What Is Orb Of Scouring?

In Path of Exile, an Orb of Scouring is a currency item with a specific purpose. When used on an item, it removes all of its modifiers and returns it to its original, unmodified state. The item retains its rarity (e.g., normal, magic, rare, unique) but loses all of its affixes (modifiers).

What Is The Drop Rate Of The Orb Of Scouring?

The drop rate of currency items, including the Orb of Scouring, in "Path of Exile" is subject to randomness and can vary based on a number of factors, including the area you're farming, the monster level, and your character's Item Quantity and Item Rarity stats. As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Grinding Gear Games, the developer of "Path of Exile," did not disclose specific drop rates for individual currency items.

Orbs of Scouring are generally considered a moderately common currency item in the game, and they can drop from various types of monsters and chests. They are more likely to drop from higher-level monsters and in higher-level areas. Additionally, using currency items like the "Orb of Chance" on white items can potentially yield Orbs of Scouring.

How To Get Orb Of Scouring?

• Scourings have a decent chance to drop from killed monsters and chests in higher tier red maps.

• Heist rewards - Completing blueprints, cracking safes and looting after encounters gives many Scourings.

• Delve chests - Deeper Delve rewards and Darkness-filled Azurite Vault chests are dependable sources.

• League mechanics - Events like Delirium, Incursion, and Legion spawn mobs that often drop Scourings.

• Metamorph rewards - Killing fully-progressed Metamorph corpses yields Scouring returns.

• Talisman monsters - Slain rares and bosses under the influence of Talismans will drop some.

• Harvest crafting - Scourings appear as rewards when using Harvest crafting options.

• Vendor recipes - Selling 6x magic crushed jewels, or 6x magic crystal belts gives 1x Scouring each.

Does Orb Of Scouring Remove Influence?

No, using an Orb of Scouring will not remove influence from an item in Path of Exile. Scouring only resets the item to a basic magic version, it does not alter the base item type or influence.  Scouring will remove all mods from an influenced magic item, but leave the influence intact. The item will still be identified as a Crusader/Hunter/Redeemer etc influenced base. It cannot be used to "scour off" the influence from rare or unique items. Only alterations like Orbs of Annulment have a chance to remove influence mods/tags.Vortex/Sanctified flasks and the new Purity of Elements flask also will not strip influence from items. The only way to fully remove influence is to use an Orb of Annulment on a rare and pray it hits the hidden "influence" modifier. This is a low odds gamble.

What Are Some Other Uses For Orbs Of Scouring In Crafting?

Reset metacrafting attempts: Scour to reset an item if a riskier metamod like suffixes/prefixes cannot be changed fails.

1. Change influenced mod pool: Scour an item to re-roll it as a different influence type for new mod options.

2. Start crafting influenced items: Scour master-crafted or converted rare bases to begin modifying influenced mods.

3. Clean magic items: Scour magic items obtained from maps/league rewards to easily re-roll the mods.

4. Remove master mods: Scour removes any veiled, elder/shaper influence mods crafted through masters.

5. Clean unique bases: Scour master-crafted corrupt/influence mods on unique bases to reuse.

6. Clean identified rares: Scour to re-roll affixes on identified items not worthwhile to chaos spam.

7. Clean prophecied items: Scour removes any added mods from prophecies before re-crafting.

8. Change item bases: Scour allows switching between identical base types like body armor.

Vendor recipes: Scour is used as part of some crafting recipes involving strongboxes or div cards.

Does Orb Of Scouring Make An Item Normal?

Yes, when you use an Orb of Scouring on a cheap PoE item, it removes all of its modifiers and returns it to a normal (white) item. This means that the item will have no affixes (prefixes or suffixes) or any additional properties. It retains its base item type, rarity, and item level, but it becomes a blank slate with no modifiers.
