What Is Orb Of Chance?

In Path of Exile, an Orb of Chance is a currency item with a unique and intriguing function. When used on a white (normal) item, an Orb of Chance has a random chance to upgrade that item into a higher rarity tier, such as a magic (blue), rare (yellow), or even a unique (orange) item. The rarity of the outcome is entirely random, and certain items have a much lower chance of becoming unique.

What To Do With Orb Of Chance?

White Items: You can only use an Orb of Chance on a white (normal) item, which means it has no modifiers or affixes on it.

Rarity Upgrade: When you use an Orb of Chance on a white item, it has a random chance to transform into a magic (blue) item with one or two random modifiers, a rare (yellow) item with multiple modifiers, or, very rarely, a unique (orange) item with specific and unique properties.

Unpredictable Outcomes: The rarity outcome is entirely unpredictable, and there's no guaranteed way to turn a white item into a unique item using an Orb of Chance. The chance of getting a unique item is generally low, especially for high-demand unique items.

Unique Base Items: Some unique items can only be obtained by using an Orb of Chance on a specific base item type. These are known as "chance-only" unique items and are generally very rare and valuable.

Orbs of Chance are often used by players to try to create unique items or to roll rare items with potentially valuable modifiers. However, due to their unpredictable nature, using them can be a gamble, and it's important to be prepared for the possibility of getting a less desirable outcome. Where To Farm Orb Of Chance?

The drop rate of POE currency items, including Orbs of Chance, can vary depending on factors such as the area you're farming, your character's Item Quantity and Item Rarity stats, and the monster level. While there's no guaranteed way to farm Orbs of Chance, there are some general strategies you can follow to increase your chances:

Farming High-Level Areas: Orbs of Chance are more likely to drop in higher-level areas. Consider farming maps or zones with a higher monster level, as they tend to yield better results in terms of currency drops.

Clearing Large Groups of Monsters: Killing large groups of monsters quickly can increase your chances of getting currency drops, including Orbs of Chance. Consider using area-of-effect (AoE) skills and clear-speed builds to efficiently clear areas.

Item Rarity and Quantity: If possible, equip gear with increased Item Rarity and Item Quantity modifiers. These modifiers can boost your chances of getting currency drops, including Orbs of Chance.

Vendor Recipes: You can obtain Orbs of Chance through vendor recipes. One such recipe involves selling a full set of unidentified rare items (one of each equipment slot) to a vendor. The resulting item, known as an "Orb of Alchemy Shard," can be combined with other currency items to create Orbs of Chance.

Chance-Only Unique Items: Some unique items in the game can only be obtained by using Orbs of Chance on specific base item types. If you're specifically interested in obtaining these unique items, you can target the appropriate base items and use Orbs of Chance on them.
