For Path of Exile 3.19, we've received a meta shakeup, unique items that enable build archetypes, the trickster rework, lightning skills finally getting new skills that actually do damage and so much more. So in this guide, we talk about the Top 10 best builds that get a huge benefit from all the changes and are powerful to use for the Lake of Kalandra League starter!
The Top 10 Best PoE 3.19 builds will not require you to get a bunch of lucky drops or do a ton of trading to get the right gear, but they scale well with the content, get you easily through the campaign, and well into the end game content. Though in the far-end game they would be superseded by the best builds, you can use these to farm up all the gear and trade PoE currency that you need to transition into one of the best end-games builds.
Top 1 - Explosive Arrow Ballista Elementalist
With this build, you lay down a bunch of ballista turrets, those turrets shoot volleys of arrows at enemies. Then after a dramatic pause while the fuse burns down those arrows explode and the more arrows you have sticking out of an enemy the bigger the damage and radius of the explosion. The best part is the ignite proliferation mechanic, which means that even when an enemy dies its corpse on the ground will still be on fire and then other enemies walking over those burning corpses will also catch fire. This build is very easy to gear, making it a painless league starter, thanks to proliferation it can easily clear all enemies on screen, the play is also really safe because you just lay down your ballistas and then duck for cover and while.
Top 2 - Boneshatter Slayer
This build revolves around the boneshatter skill which is a melee attack that hits enemies so hard that some of that damage splashes back onto you, and if you stun an enemy with this attack, a damaging pulse will shoot out, damaging enemies in an area around you. When you hit an enemy with boneshatter, you're going to gain a stack of trauma, every stack of trauma you have gives you a small damage buff, but you also take physical damage for every trauma stack you have because of this you want to focus on things that reduce the amount of physical damage that you take like armor. Life recovery is also important to counteract the damage, you're bringing upon yourself. Boneshatter is a fast visceral and exciting play style, you just run around with your raging boneshatter and as long as you can keep it up, you can go all night. The boneshatter slayer is a great build at running maps and is arguably the best build for melee players in this 3.19 patch, as the downside however this build isn't great against bosses.
Top 3 - Righteous Fire inquisitor
Since we're on the topic of builds that hurt ourselves, we have this build that's based on righteous fire which is a spell that engulfs you in fire that burns nearby enemies and you're on fire, that's just how fire works. The damage of the fire deals scales with your life and energy shield, the more you have the more damage you deal. And while you're under the effects of righteous fire, your spell damage is greatly increased. Because you're on fire and burning yourself constantly in order to survive with this build, you want to stack a ton of life regeneration as well as maximum fire resistance. Righteous fire is great for dealing with groups of enemies but it is weak against single targets which is why you also want to work fire trap into the build. Firetrap makes you throw a fire trap that explodes and leaves a burning patch on the ground that will hurt enemies that walk through it. This build is amazing at running maps, you activate righteous fire once at the start of the map, then you just run around with shield charge and everything burns to death. It's also great at staying alive thanks to all the defenses and life regeneration you're stacking. Now as for downsides this is another build that's not great against single target until you get good gear killing bosses will take a while, but again you'll have the defenses to survive the fight.
Top 4 - Poisonous Concoction Pathfinder
With the poisonous concoction skill, you can't have a weapon equipped like at all, so that's one itemization slot you don't have to worry about. Instead of a weapon, you're throwing your flasks at enemies, it's just such a novel mechanic, so you throw your flask it deals chaos damage in an area and has a chance to poison enemies. If you have any charges left in your life flask, it will consume charges whenever you throw it to deal extra damage, the stronger your flask the greater your extra damage, so you are extra motivated to keep your flasks upgraded with this build beyond just their healing power. Now an important skill that you'll want that supplements this build is plague bearer, when you activate plague bearer, you deal less poison damage, but whenever you deal poison damage you store part of the poison damage that you deal. Then when you activate the skill again, you release all the poison damage that you've accumulated, it hits enemies around you and it's released over a period of time, so it's like a really long extra deadly fart, this is particularly great for mapping. For all this builds strengths, it does have one considerable weakness, it just isn't great late game while your mapping experience will be incredibly smooth eventually not having a weapon becomes a weakness because other builds are eventually getting really powerful weapons to stack damage, whereas your ability to stack damage is limited.
Top 5 - Spectral Helix
If you like hammerton's, this build is for you because spectral helix makes a spectral copy of your equipped weapon hammer or otherwise, and swirls it around you. This skill has really high base damage, making it really strong for leveling even speedrunners use it. While spectral helix is great early game, it doesn't scale well once you are gearing up to the very end game well past the campaign, which is why you'll eventually want to swap to lightning strike as your main attack skill. Lighting strike turns your melee strikes into lightning damage and shoots out lightning projectiles to enemies who are further away from your melee target, you can even go for vaal lightning strike which summons an orb that continuously shoots out projectiles even when you're not attacking. To run this build, you start by taking the duelist class, then you take the champion ascendancy which is a great mixture of offense and defense and makes this build incredibly tanky thanks to the damage reduction granted by fortify. This build makes leveling safe and easy thanks to the early game power of spectral helix, it's super tanky and it scales well into end game by transitioning into lightning strike.
Top 6 - Blade Vortex
Cold blade vortex has quietly been creeping up in terms of play rates, it's maybe not the single flashiest build and probably doesn't feel as good as good old days of exploding the entire screen, but it's still a very solid build relatively easy to league start. Currently we have a lot of people who play blade vortex on a occultist and assassin, the ascendancy is simply too good to overlook and two of the unique item buffs are particularly important. The first is frenzy having 100% of physical damage converted to cold makes it much easier to level it, also eases early game itemization and it means you can play cold conversion without having to worry nearly as much, your investment is from sorrow hatred and you're pretty much good to go. The second big buff is obliteration you're getting up to 80% of fizz as extra chaos, you won't necessarily be scaling your chaos as easily as you're cold if your conversion, but if you're a poison blade vortex or maybe if you're wearing Algor Mortis and converting a different way. There is a huge amount of extra base damage from a couple of ones that even with all the changes should be relatively easy to access especially since they have a divination card. You can even get unholy might on top of that which is a fairly common corruption for wands. This is a fairly flexible build, it doesn't just have to be played on an occultist or assassin, maybe you want to go elementalist and get some more AOE, or maybe you want inquisitor to get better recovery and a little bit of es energy, or you could pick the spicy route and play a trickster and go tank.
Top 7 - Lighting Caster
Another archetype that could be good in PoE 3.19 is the lightning caster. In the past, we've wanted to play an arc or crackling lance build but crackling lance seems to have more bugs than actual features, and arc while very good at clear tends to lack in single target. Now there is going to be a definitive downside to the fix that being you're going to have to play a two button build, there's no one button solutions here. Because the fix comes in the form of lightning conduit, Lightning conduit looks to be a very powerful single target nuke assuming, you're able to effectively shock an enemy you get to just blast them with a single punch of damage, and the skill especially encourages you to self-cast it rather than trigger it repeatedly, this is because it has a line that says the spell's cast time is added to its cooldown if triggered.
Furthermore, something else interesting to consider is it has 10% more damage with hits, per 5 shock effects on an enemy, and getting 60 to 65% effective shock on an enemy, isn't going to be that difficult to do anymore. So you might use a low damage skill like arc or a medium damage skill like a crackling lance to get the enemy nice and shocked and then absolutely obliterate them with a lightning conduit, its base damage already looks pretty respectable for a level one and we'd imagine that scales up pretty well.
Top 8 - Bane Occultist
If you're a brand new player, Subtractem's Bane Occultist is easily the best choice for a league starter in 3.19. Although this build won't be able to delete bosses in three seconds or explode an entire screen of monsters, it's very well-balanced, tanky, flexible, easy to follow, and it's fully capable of doing all of the end-game content on a reasonable budget. If you play this build especially as a new player, you're going to learn a lot about the mechanics of the game.
Top 9 - EoW Miner Inquisitor
This build is capable of clearing all content in the game. With great mapping setup, this build clears maps very smoothly and comfortably, it's not the fastest mapper but it's fast enough, but where it really shines is the single target. With bossing setup, this build should help you to destroy bosses probably faster than any other league solder build. So if you are a fan of seismic trap and you're looking for a well-rounded build that can run all map mods with high single target damage, then this might be the perfect leak sort of for you.
Top 10 - BV Elementalist
Now we know what you're thinking BV is often seen as a bit of a risky league starter and it might be, but Chronic_Painless has quite possibly one of the most thorough hand-holding pobs and guides, the note section is extensive and every step of your progression is laid out in detail, so you'll always know how to make the next improvement on the build. The only nerf to cold BV that this build faced with 3.19 was to that of brittle, but it's not enough to do anything too major to the builds damage. So with a decent clear and good single target, this build starts off well but one of the shining points of it is that it can scale to the most ludicrous numbers and you'll be able to if you invest enough into it do all content in the game very comfortably.
