Hunter is going to go through some changes in WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 2 and your pet is still going to be the real player. Today, we want to talk about the best WoW SoD Phase 2 hunter pets for PvE & PvE!
Choosing a hunter pet in Season of Discovery! It's a crucial decision, as your furry (or scaly) companion plays a big role in your success. There are many different types of pets for hunters to choose from, including cats, bears, spiders, boars, and more. Each pet type has different abilities and strengths.Pets provide beneficial abilities to hunters, such as tanking enemies, inflicting damage over time effects, and improving the hunter's damage. Without further ado, let's check the top 3 Season of Discovery best Phase 2 hunter pets.
No.1 Cat
Despite recent nerfs, remain the best SoD hunter pet Phase 2, particularly for Marksmanship specialization due to their high attack speed and valuable utility abilities.Cats are a good fit for Marksmanship hunters seeking fast attacks, effective crowd control with Cower, and situational stealth with Prowl. Their value in other specs like Beast Mastery or Survival might be less compelling due to their lower survivability and damage compared to other pet choices.
No.2 Raptor
Raptors present a unique and exciting option for hunters, primarily appealing to Beast Mastery and Survival specs.Raptors offer a rewarding high-risk, high-reward playstyle. Their offensive prowess and utility abilities like Hamstring and Screech are valuable, but their fragility requires careful positioning and timing. They shine in Beast Mastery with their movement speed bonus and synergy with DoTs,but in Survival, their strengths depend on your talent choices and playstyle.
No.3 Wind Serpent
The Wind Serpent in World of Warcraft's Season of Discovery offers a compelling mix of offensive and utility abilities, making them a great option for Beast Mastery hunters and a decent choice for other specs. Wind Serpents are versatile pets, excelling at dealing sustained damage with Bite and Cleave, while offering occasional burst with Lightning Breath. Their Ferocity specialization abilities complement Beast Mastery well, and Winged Agility provides valuable mobility.
There are only two pets with the best modifier which is 10% the Cat and the Raptor. The Wind Serpent only has 7% so why are people taking the Wind Serpent?
That is because of their energy dump, the Raptor, the Cat, and the Serpent all have bites that's their 10-second cooldown is the same. But the Serpent has also lightning breath, Cats and Raptors do claw instead which is 16 damage for every 25 energy that's the cost. Meanwhile, the Serpent with the lightning breath does 36 damage per 50 energy, which is 12% more damage per energy on the Serpent. Also, the lightning breath is not melee damage, it is nature damage.
With the new talent Frenzy, every time your pet crits, it gets attack speed. With the same amount of energy, a Cat is going to do 2 claws, meanwhile, the Serpent is going to do only one lightning breath which is one less chance of critting every time to keep the frenzy up. That means that the Cat and the Raptor are going to keep Frenzy up for more time. doing more auto attacks and in turn, they are going to do a lot more damage. On top of the fact that Cats have 10% more damage and Raptors 10% more damage, aside from the Wind Serpent which only has 7% more damage. However, the Serpent is still going to be the best WoW Season of Discovery Phase 2 Hunter Pet in PvP because nobody has nature resistance and there you can burst it out easily.
Why are people taking Cats instead of Raptors as the best WoW SoD Phase 2 pet for hunter?
-First of all is attack speed but if you're taking a flanking strike that does full weapon damage every time you do it full melee claw damage. That means that all things equal, you want the slowest attack speed possible for your pet. While there are Raptors with two attack speed in this tier that exist, Cats are pretty much everywhere at level 40. This is going to flip over because every Raptor in Stranglethorn has the slow attack speed that you want, so they are much easier to find.
-Cats have slightly more HP than Raptor while Raptors have more armor. In a tier like BFD where there is a lot of AOE magic damage, having more HP is going to help you survive more than armor. For the average player, you can take a Raptor or a Cat since they are basically the same, you are not going to be able to tell the difference at all.
As we are getting the new talent intimidation that does more threat, so pet tanking combined with Beast Mastery that turns growl into a taunt is going to make pet tanking a lot more viable and a lot more practical. So here is where the Raptor gets a slight advantage over the Cat because of its armor. If you are tanking the boss most of the damage that it is taking is physical damage, in that case, armor is going to be making it the tankiest WoW Classic Season of Discovery Hunter tanking pet.
If you do want to get a Cat before the raid at level 40, your only good option is the Ridge Huntress in the Badlands.
