GGG just has dropped some major news for us, so here we will cover the 2023 plans of Path of Exile, this is going to have considerable information on POE 3.21 release and what to expect over the rest of this year as GGG starts moving towards the beat up for Path of Exile 2. So let's go through the information.
Path of Exile 3.21 League Release Date
GGG has announced the next Path of Exile Expansion is planning to release in early April, this means Forbidden Sanctum Challenge League will be longer than normal - it will therefore be going for something like 16 weeks instead of the usual 13 weeks or so. All that said, if GGG still follows the rule of releasing expansion on Friday, then the release time of Path of Exile 3.21 is most likely to be scheduled for April 7th, 2023.
Why did the Release of PoE 3.21 Get Delayed?
One of the key things that a lot of people have forgotten about in Path of Exile Community is that ExileCon 2 is coming up in a few month's time and that's going to be something that's fairly impactful on this timeline because a lot of things have been reshuffled around in order to fit that in perfectly.
And the 3.21 is coming out about six weeks before Diablo 4 which will be released on June 2, this means that those people that are genuinely interested in playing both, they can play POE 3.21 then they can jump over and play Diablo 4 for a little while and then when Diablo 4 ends up proving itself the worst product, then they'll be in a perfect spot to jump back to Path of Exile after that for POE 2's release and also for other future challenge leagues and the like. So we think GGG has picked a pretty smart time for it.
February & March Events Coming in Path of Exile
What To Do Before POE 3.21 Launch? As GGG said, they are currently tinkering with a few ideas for some fun low-key things we can do in the final month before the 3.21 launches. We think maybe small events in the final month before 3.21 launches, like the November Events in last year after pushing back 3.20 to December.
POE 3.21 Path Notes & Changes Speculation
The other significant thing is GGG acknowledging how well-received the Forbidden sanctum expansion has been, it's not that every individual player likes the Forbidden sanctum content, it's that the people who like it absolutely love it and the people that don't like it very much are content to just deal with it a little bit because it's off to the side, that's our understanding of why it's been such a successful league as one of the highest performing leagues in the Path of Exile. Although no details about the 3.21 league have been disclosed yet, we think GGG will continue to follow some suggestions from players in the new update to maintain game satisfaction. So we summarize some suggested changes from the community that may be added to POE 3.21 Patch Notes:
Less mandatory "more" multiplier skills - auras, melee ancestral totems, etc. They're like artificial mandatory damage/defense boosts. These numbers could go to weapons and armor pieces themselves
Lower amount and higher quality of dropped rares - I would love to see a reduced number of tiers of affixes also. I think this would help with server issues slightly as well
More love melee, self-casts, and channeling skills - standing still mean death so often that most of the top builds use dots, totems, and traps. It feels like in the end all characters are engineers dropping various devices around.
Drop Splinters at One Time - Let breaches in maps drop their splinters at the end of the breach circle instead of one by one by one. Any mechanic that doesn't drop all of its goodies in one nice pile should be improved if possible. The less time we spend going around collecting individual things would mean more time actually engaging in fun content.
Ascendancy reworks - Gamers are always most excited for shake-up in meta and ascendancy, they feel like ascendancies, in general, are in a pretty good spot but classes like gladiator and Chieftain could use some love.

POE ExileCon 2023 Start Date
The ExileCon of 2023 is going to take place on July 29th to 30th in Auckland, New Zealand, in which all details about the Path of Exile 2, Path of Exile Mobile, and the Path of Exile 3.22 league will be revealed.
POE 3.22 League Expansion Release Date
The POE 3.22 league is being planned to release around 2 weeks after the ExileCon takes place, most likely on August 11th, 2023, so if you want to do some travel within New Zealand, GGG suggested you make your trip before the ExileCon and go back home a few days after the convention, then you can experience the new league at the first time!
