In this Diablo 2 Resurrected Boss Fight Guide, we share you with the best tips and tricks to take out ACT 1-5 bosses, which is directed more at new and returning players but maybe even veteran players could learn a tip here or there.
Let's start with some general tips and tricks here:
Trick 1 - Make Sure You Always Set Up a Safety Portal
Always when you go after an act boss, make sure you set up a safety town portal somewhere so you come back and get your body and continue the fight
Trick 2 - Make Sure You Load Up on Potions
Never notorious for getting overconfident not thinking trying to go too quick and realizing you only have like two health potions after you get down there, so feel free to head over to a vendor and load up on mana and health potions as needed
Trick 3 - Make Sure You Get Good Resistances
Sometimes when you go down to the ACT boss, maybe you have a bunch of magic find on because you're trying to find good stuff throughout the game if it's your first time and you're kind of struggling with the act bosses, feel free to pull some of that magic find off and go ahead and throw on some resistance type gear or some life type gear. The different bosses in this game should always shoot you with fire or lightning or poison or whatever, so it's going to be a good idea to get your resistance up when you go after these act bosses.
Trick 1 - Take Antidote Potions To Increase Poison Resistance
Everyone probably knows that Andariel does a ton of poison type skills to deal you poison damage. Now if your poison resistance is not high enough, this can be a bit of a struggle, there is a little trick here you can actually come over to Akara and buy Antidote Potions that will Cure the poison. But if you did not know when you take an Antidote potion, watch the poison res on your character profile, your poison resistance will increase, that will last for a certain number of time (20 or 30 seconds), also that time actually stacks, so you can chug a whole bunch of these potions and get several minutes of poison resistance. Also if you did not know, you could also take these potions to the mercenary here, if his resistance is not maxed out, you can give him a poison resistance to get a boost. If his resistance is maxed out, you also can give him a poison in the same manner here, it raises the maximum poison resistance you can get and also gives you extra poison resistance. So there is a very helpful trick when you're going after those poison skills damage that is dealt from in Andariel.
Trick 2 - Pop Town Portal Just Down The Stairs
Another little trick you should always do is pop a town portal right over here just down the stairs, don't put one over where the other monsters are at. This room is generally safe there might be a monster tune here you can clear it out, and then no matter what character you are if you're past ACT 1 in normal, if you're in nightmare hell, you can get yourself a telestaff or the sorceress teleport back and forth. So if you ever get in trouble boom you can just teleport right over here, you have a safe town portal to go through and to come back into in order to come down to the battle.
Trick 3 - Close The Door
Now if you're earlier on or you just can't get yourself a teleport staff, an important thing to note these monsters can follow you but if you come through the gate and then you close the door. It's a little tough to get to sometimes but if you could close that door monsters cannot open that door so go ahead and go through there, none of those monsters can come through the door and vice versa, so you could lure and Andariel through that door go ahead and close it and seal the monsters in if you can't fight those right then.
Trick 4 - Use The Barrels To Block The Poison Attack
The poison cannot shoot through these stack of barrels, so it does lead you to get some safety now. Andariel can walk around these barrels right here but her poison skill damage does not go through them, so you can drop blizzards down or any caster spell really. And she'll just keep following you around here, and her line of sight cannot get you, so you can literally keep Andariel from ever hitting you simply by running around these barrels, casting spells at her as she follows.
Trick 5 - Using Fire Skill
Andariel has a weakness to fire, it is like a huge amount of resistance difference, so fire skill damage whether you're doing a druid or a fire sorceress will work very well on Andariel due to that weakness of the fire resistance that she has.
Trick 1 - Load Up On Thawing Positions
The boss of Act 2 Duriel is similar to the first one, he actually has a cold aura that deals a bunch of cold damage to you, so you can actually load up on thawing potions, by drinking one, the cold res can jump up from 17 to 67 so adding 50. And the same as in Act 1 with the antidote potions, you can chug a whole bunch of these and stack the duration, so it'll last the entire time of the fight. And also don't forget you can actually stack that on your mercenary as well, give your mercenary 50 potions, whatever you really want to do, you probably don't need that many but you can stack that up as well raising his cold resistance and the duration of that resistance race.
Trick 2 - Pop Up A Portal
So once you're down here to Tal Rasha's Tomb and you want to fight Duriel, we would always suggest popping a portal up here, to be safe that way you always have a safe portal to come into, you won't have Duriel sitting right there killing you before the load screen even finishes now.
Trick 3 - Run Away & Cast
Once you're down to fight Duriel, if you are a caster, you pretty much just have to run away and cast, run away and cast; if you are not a caster, you just got to step up to the plate and start blasting away going blow for blow with Duriel until he's taken out. There is not a great option unless you are that necromancer, you can cast down your clay golem and iron maiden on it works in normal and nightmare, not so much in hell, that is particular with just the necromancer.
Trick 1 - Moat Trick
First of all, we need to be in Durance of Hate level 3. When you agro Mephisto and Teleport across the moat to get him stuck on the other side. You can then aim your AoE at the stairs next to the moat and it'll hit Mephisto who is stuck trying to get across. Only a few classes/builds are capable of doing this, and Blizzard Sorceress is likely the greatest at it. It's easy to load up on as much Magic Find gear as you can while farming this place because you'll rarely take any damage.
Trick 2 - Don't Get Council Members' Attention
It's very important not to aggro and get these council members' attention over here, because literally those council members if any of them end up coming over here to help out in the battle, will actually heal Mephisto. So you want to make sure you do not get their attention to come over here and do that.
Trick 1 - Let Your Mercenary Face Tank & Give Potions To Keep Him Alive
Now once you're on to diablo here the biggest tip we can give you is to let your mercenary face tank everything that he does while you're attacking from wherever Diablo's not paying attention to. Give him potions as needed to keep him alive. So the whole time while your mercenaries face tanking is damaged, you cast away or attack away and just give him potions to keep him alive until diablo is down. It's kind of that simple to be perfect, you even don't need to put any Diablo 2 items or weapons on your mercenary.
Trick 2 - Don't Let You and Your Mercenary Be Attack With Diablo's Fire Skill
When Diablo casts that fire (normally when he raises his hands up), if you have a tele staff on another character or if you're a sorceress, teleport and draw your mercenary away, don't let your mercenary or you be in that fire which does way more damage than everything else even though it's kind of time-consuming. Don't let Diablo attack with that fire skill, it does so much more damage than all the other attacks.
Trick 1 - Don't Let Your Mercenary Eat Hydras
In wave three of Baal, it can be a struggle your mercenary can get absolutely ripped by those hydras, so if your mercenary is up by these hydras, teleport away because they can only cast down the one hydra at a time per a council member. So go after the ones that aren't by the hydras first and then when you get down to fewer. it's not as big of a deal. But your mercenary absolutely gets wrecked by those hydras, so don't let him eat those hydras.
Trick 2 - Lure the 4th & 5th Waves of Monsters Out of the Room
Onto the 4th wave, you can actually lure these waves out of the room. The 4th waves and the 5th waves work the best because they actually follow you, you have to get their attention to follow you out here. Sometimes they can be annoying such as they just do not want to follow, but here we go get them to come out. Sometimes if you do lure the 4th wave out, you need to make sure you lure them very far because if you're going to lure the fourth wave and the fifth wave, you need to make sure these guys are out of your way.
With the fifth wave you can actually do the exact same thing, if they're too powerful for you, you can go ahead and lure them right out of the throne room, and then Baal will go on as if you had defeated the entire wave. You go ahead and lure the wave out of the throne room that way you don't have to defeat them, sometimes it can just be too hard for new characters. Once you get them lured out, you teleport in and here Baal is just going ahead and laughing away. He'll go through his portal and now you can go after Baal himself.
Trick 3 - Put Your Back Up Against Solid Object
So once you get down to Baal, there isn't really any great strategy besides you just go ahead and let your mercenary take him out, but one thing that we do suggest is that put yourself up against the back wall if there's nowhere to get knocked back to, it won't knock you back and stun you. So that's a little trick: put your back up against a solid object, so Baal can't knock you back, and that way you never get stunned. Beyond that you just cast away, try not to get killed, and give your mercenary potions until Baal gets taken out.
