D2R Best High Runes Farming Guide: Best Areas & Monsters to Find High Runes

High runes tend to be the most popular items in Diablo II Resurrected. Runes are considered currency and are used to craft runes, which are often the most powerful items in the game. But where is the best place to farm high D2R runes? We'll walk you through that in this guide.

In this guide, we're going to talk about the best places and monsters to find high runes. We know a lot of people have the general idea of the best places to find but when specifically targeting high runes we think there are some interesting results that some of you may not have known additionally. We'll talk about the other pieces and all of that stuff and why you might farm different areas as well as why certain things have been suggested.

Best Monsters to Find High Runes

Willowisp:

Any of the ghostly monsters such as the Willowisp, Finger Mages, Wraiths, so any of that combination is going to actually be the best mobs for dropping runes in the game this is because they just drop less stuff overall so they have a higher chance of dropping from the runes treasure class which is super nice.

Quill Rats:

Any of those ghostly mobs will be the best drop chance for runes, it's a pretty significant um increase compared to other monsters, additionally, Quill Rats is actually the second-best, they have an increased chance of dropping them and again a decent amount ahead not quite as good as a ghost but it is a slight boost to the number of runes.

Cows

Cows have a better chance of dropping runes than normal monsters do which is why cows have always been a spot that people have recommended to go and farm because you get all the other nice things and all that stuff but if you're looking for specifically runes kill a lot of cows get higher chances for it right there.

Swarms and Vultures

Swarms and Vultures which you find often in like act two right you know the swarms and like the far oasis and whatever not are they in the far-away system we think so they actually have a worse drop chance of runes.

The vultures are of course the birds that fly around so that is all of the monsters from best to worst because it's almost every mob is there, but there are a few that do have slightly better chances and that does play a factor in some of the farming zones for here.

Best Places to Find High Runes

These are the seven best places to find high runes in the game.

1. LK runs

This is another very boring simple way to go through it but how to do an LK run and they have good drop chances for getting high runes and so after a few hours of doing this a lot of times you'll have a great chance.

LK runs you can find some jewels, gems, amulets, rings and things like that but you're not getting any like unique sets unless you're popping some racks along the way and then you might get some bases which that's one of the best places to find bases.

2. Grush 4 Forge

Grush 4 Forge is actually an extremely profitable way, the nightmare forge will drop from soul rune up to maroon, and the hell forge will drop from hell rune up to goal rune.

If you're looking to get rich quick and get those runes and then get up to those high runes getting to an even like a low rune, this is one of the best places to easily farm high runes.

3. Travincal

There are 11 members in the Travincal and each of them has pretty good drop rates for runes so you can go over there, obviously, this is not a trap killing character but you can go over here and you can kill all of these mobs and the faster you can kill them, the better and they each can drop up to three items which are super nice.

If you're using a Barbarian to find items, it's a very solid space for finding your roots.

Not only do you have a great chance for Hirens but you also have all these other drops such as Shako and Mara's Kaleidoscope, all these things sprinkled in there which can have a ton of value.

4. Drive-By Chaos

If you're not looking for all of the other D2R items and you're just really targeting runes going in popping, all this is very fast especially if you have a character that you know.

5. Arcane/Cow

Not only are you getting that added boost but you're getting density and density is such a big key, the more that you can kill the better that it's going to be and so obviously in the cows, there's just tons of density as well which can have high runes pop out of them.

The Arcane in Act II Hell is also a great place to farm high runes. Not only do they have super chests at the end of each platform, but Ghosts have the highest chance of dropping high runes in the game. You'll also encounter the Summoner, who has a high chance of dropping runes from him.

6. Countess

You can kill the Countess, it's a good way to go through get a lot of nice gear or runes, she can drop up to a low rune from a regular monster drop.

In levels 1, level 2, level 3, you can only drop up to a low rune, from trash mobs, and the unique mobs, you can drop the higher runes. Once you're in level four and level 5 five all of the mobs in there are going to be able to drop your rune.

7. Chaos Sanctuary

There's a lot of density overall in the Chaos Sanctuary which once again when you're looking for runes, a lot of mobs to kill all of that stuff. Chaos Sanctuary takes time to clean and is very difficult to clean, you have a great chance to find runes and good items, such as Treachery.

Chaos Sanctuary is one of the best places in the game to farm, there are so many boss groups and so much density as well as so many nice items because it's an area level 85, so anything can drop in the Chaos Sanctuary.
