6/29/2021 3:55:38 PM

There are a number of guides for Burning Crusade Classic Profession system, you can learn about the most efficient ways of level different Professions, the more profitable Profession for WOW TBC gold making, or the best Profession in the game. In this article, we’ll focus on the WOW TBC Classic Best Professions for PVP.

WOW TBC Classic Best Professions for PVP - Burning Crusade Classic Profession Guide

In TBC Classic WOW, players must also choose between two Primary Professions - Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Herbalism, Jewelcrafting, Leatherworking, Mining, Skinning, and Tailoring. The other professions are classified as Secondary Professions (Cooking, Fishing, First Aid). Thanks to the YouTuber Skill Capped WoW Guides, we’ll be looking at the benefits you can get from each profession, which helps you to make the decision when picking the best PVP WOW TBC Classic professions.

1. Tailoring

The first WOW TBC Classic profession we go with is Tailoring, it is a production profession, players collect recipes to give them the ability to make powerful gear for equipping or trading. Tailoring gets some big updates going into TBC from Classic. When picking up a specialization, you're able to craft double the amount of cloth as well as having the ability to craft and equip a unique armor set, Spellfire, Shadowweave and Mooncloth are all great sets for PvE, but when it comes to PvP, the only one really worth is going to be the Shadowweave, it has very good stats and as a result, can be used as decent starter gear for warlocks or shadow priests, but even then it's actually weaker than the level 70 high warlord or grand marshal gear, which you can farm with honor. There are also a few other benefits to being a Tailoring, such as the best in Slot leg enchants and decent items like the girdle of ruination or the unyielding set, but all of these are bind on equip and do not require tailoring to use. The last benefit is Netherweave Nets, these can root a target for three seconds useful in PvE and battlegrounds, but unfortunately can not be used inside of the arena, so as a PvP player, the only benefit you're going to get from Tailoring is by utilizing the armor until you can farm your honor or arena set.

2. Enchanting

The next profession Enchanting is one often paired up with tailoring, you can craft items to level up your tailoring. Enchanting is one of the best professions in the PVP especially the arena, the reason for this is as an enchanter, you're able to enchant your own rings. So to be clear these enchants you can only do on your own rings and not other people's, there is Spellpower granting 12 spell damage on each ring coming from farming rep with the Keepers of Time up to Honored, Healing power which provides you with in total 40 extra plus healing from the Revered, Striking isn't very useful for PVP, the bonus it provides is very minor and not really worth going for stats, on the other hand, is extremely good for all melee, the only downside of this is that it's not going to be in the game for phase one and instead we'll come later with Mount Hyjal, so if you're a caster or healer, it's simple you're going to want enchanting as gaining that extra spell damage or healing provides the biggest upgrade over any profession for you when inside of PVP melee will eventually want to get enchanting, but for strictly speaking for phase one you gain no real benefits.

3. Alchemy

Alchemy specializes in consumables, so you've got elixirs, mana potions, and even flasks. Alchemy is a great moneymaker especially with its transmutes, but there are a few problems with alchemy for PVP. First of all, potions flask and elixirs are all unusable in rated PVP, so you can't use them inside of the arena, you could gain an edge in battlegrounds, but then all the consumables you can make can just be purchased from the auction house, what you get unique is a selection of  Alchemy trinkets, providing a decent to either healing, spell damage, attack power or defense as well as a unique mad alchemist potion, these upgraded versions will not be in the game until phase 5. During phase 1 the only real unique benefit to alchemists is the much weaker starting version of the plain alchemist stone. Alchemy can provide you with some decent gold income or starting trinkets in later phases, it's not really going to provide you with any additional benefits at all especially in phase one.

4. Jewelcrafting

Jewelcrafting is newly added in The Burning Crusade Classic, jewelcrafting allows you to craft rings, trinkets and gems, people can also learn prospecting which allows them to break ore down into raw gems. You can go jewelcrafting create these gems and then swap them back. The other benefit of being a jewelcrafter is some additional trinkets, these are similar to alchemy where they're good starting items to tide you over until you find your best in slot, the difference being these are going to be available on release and in the case of the panther, trinket last a very long time for certain classes, the panther is incredibly strong for rogues and feral druids and makes jewelcrafting a very strong profession to have purely for the added stealth level whereas the other decent trinket, the serpent can be a great trinket for casters who have mana issues due to the huge amount of intellect, so specs like elemental balance or shadow priests these trinkets will also be upgradable in later phases alongside also gaining some decent bind on pickup necklaces,  for early phases, we recommend rogues ferals and potentially shadow priests balanced druids and elementals to consider picking up jewelcrafting solely for the trinkets.

5. Engineering

Engineering is a primary PVP profession, engineers are able to make certain trinkets, gadgets and explosives and coming from vanilla, a lot of the gadgets from vanilla though no longer work in TBC as they now have a chance to be resisted when used on players above level 70, engineering still remains to be the go-to profession for battlegrounds for the same reason it was in vanilla, you've just got an assortment of gadgets, trinkets and explosives, you can put to use, but with arena being introduced engineering falls off as almost all of the benefits you gain access to are disabled and unable to be used in arena, although there are two gadgets you're able to use, the only other benefit of engineering from an arena standpoint comes with phase 2 when you get access to the goggles depending on your class and current helmet, it may be worth swapping to engineering once these get added, if you're not already but until then it's up to you to decide on if engineering is worth it for you, if you're purely about battlegrounds or duels it's a very obvious choice.

6. Blacksmithing

Blacksmithing remains relatively the same as Classic, you've got two main specializations Weaponsmith and Armorsmith at level 40 and Skill level 200. With a specialization, you have access to a handful of new recipes. Weaponsmiths can further specialize as an Axesmith, Hammersmith, or Swordsmith at level 50 with skill level 250. All of the items are Bind on Pickup, meaning only Blacksmiths with that specialization can equip them. If you're a melee DPS wanting to PVP, weaponsmithing is going to provide you with a huge weapon that you can obtain very quickly and in the case of warriors lasts you a very long time and in terms of profession advantages, it doesn't get bigger than blacksmithing.

7. Leatherworking

Leatherworking is similar to tailoring and the fact that you have three main sub professions: Tribal Leatherworking, which focuses around intellect leather gear and the windhawk set so good for balance druids, Dragonscale Leatherworking focusing around Ebon Netherscale and Netherstrike all of which being intellect based and then Elemental Leatherworking is focused around leather agility users. Both the Tribal and Dragonscale leatherworking gear is just not worth it for PVP and is quickly replaced by the blue honor gear as the specs that can make use of it, so druids hunters or shaman all need good levels of stamina and resilience, the primal strike gear from elemental leatherworking is the exception and can actually provide a ton of value for both rogues and ferals as a more offensive option to their blue honor gear but will only last until you can replace it with the arena gear. Aside from that the other benefit leather workers get is Drums, their benefits are incredibly strong and in solo PVP or battlegrounds can give you a huge edge but they're also party wide, so even if you're not a leatherworker you can still gain their benefits but if you're talking purely arena then these, fortunately, are disabled so the only real use of leatherworking is if you're a feral or robe wanting to have an early offensive gear set instead of the blue high warlord or grand marshal gear.

8. Gathering

The last professions are what you can call gathering professions, these are mining, herbalism and skinning, all three of these grants no benefits when it comes to PVP, apart from herbalism which gives you some very minor consumables like flame cap but these cannot be used in arena, the whole point of gathering professions is to make gold or aid in and providing materials for your main professions, for instance, skinning and leatherworking go hand, as does mining and blacksmithing, herbalism and alchemy.

In a word, when it comes to the best professions for PvP in WOW TBC Classic, Engineering is a good choice, it is very powerful with items that mind control, reduce enemy DPS, slow down targets, detect stealth, provide speed s, etc.
