Winter Veil in World of Warcraft Season of Discovery is a festive holiday, much like Christmas in the real world! It's a joyous time in Azeroth, celebrated for two weeks, typically starting mid-December and ending just after New Year's. With the help of our WoW Classic Season of Discovery Winter Veil event guide, you’ll know the quests, rewards, achievements, mounts, and tips.

When the Season of Discovery Winter Veil arrives, the world gets a beautiful winter makeover, with snow and decorations adorning major cities and towns. Cheerful music fills the air, and everyone's in a jolly mood. Special vendors offer unique Winter Veil goods like toys, costumes, and recipes. The Winter Veil world event starts on the 16th of December and runs through to the 2nd of January. While there are no real big rewards for this achievement, it does go towards what a long strange trip it's been to be able to get your free 310 speed mount.

SoD Winter Veil Event Quests 2023

The Reason for the Season (Alliance/Horde) - Talk to the quest giver to listen to the story.

The Feast of Winter Veil (Alliance/Horde) - Turn in the previous quest to receive this follow up quest.

Metzen the Reindeer (Alliance/Horde) - Track down Metzen north of Kharanos who is lost. Rescue him.

Great-father Winter is Here (Alliance/Horde) - Speak to Greatfather Winter near the Christmas tree in your capital city.

Stolen Winter Veil Treats (Alliance/Horde) - Investigate your capital city, you will notice Strange Snowman stealing gifts. Interact with it.

You're a Mean One... (Alterac Mountains) - Travel to Growless Cave and defeat the elite Strange Snowman boss mob. Will need a group.

A Smokywood Pastures' Thank You! (Alliance/Horde) - Return to the original quest giver in your capital to complete.

Treats for Great-father Winter (Alliance/Horde) - Use the Recipe: Gingerbread Cookie to bake 12 and turn them in.

How to complete the Stolen Winter Veil Treats quest?

Start the Stolen Winter Veil Treats quest by speaking to either Kaymard Copperpinch in Orgrimmar or Wulmort Jinglepocket in Ironforge. Both NPCs can be found in their respective capital cities. The quest giver will ask you to investigate a missing shipment of treats. Travel to the Alterac Mountains located in the northeastern part of Eastern Kingdoms. In the Alterac Mountains, search for the Strange Snowman between coordinates 35.4, 72.2. Interact with the snowman who will reveal the Abominable Greench stole the treats.

This will start the quest "You're a Mean One...". The Greench can be found patrolling the mountain peaks near Yeti locations. It will let out an audible scream before appearing. Form a party or raid group to defeat the Greench, which is a level 30-40 elite monster. Loot the treats from its corpse. Return to the Strange Snowman to complete "You're a Mean One..." and automatically receive the follow-up quest "A Smokywood Pastures' Thank You!". Head back to your original quest giver in Orgrimmar or Ironforge and turn in "A Smokywood Pastures' Thank You!" to finish the quest line.

New rewards:

There are some new SoD Winter Veil rewards for us to collect, such as the Highland Drake Winter Veil armor customization and "Festive Trans-Dimensional Bird Whistle" from You're a Mean One... quest rewards.

On Dec 25th, you can receive the 2023 Vintage Winter Veil gift. This year's gift is "Junior Timekeeper's Racing Belt". If you get it, you can earn the Feats of Strength "Catch Me If You Can!". You can also race using "Junior Timekeeper's Racing Belt" to achieve the Feats of Strength "Junior Racing Champion". And you also get a new tot New toy "Winter Veil Socks". A new Pepe toy where he'll follow you around in a mini sleigh on your adventures as well as a new item for Pepe which will ensure that he has the right festive attire when you summon him fit for the season.

Preserved Holly - Can be used to update the models of Warsong Gulch reputation mounts. Obtained by blowing a kiss to Winter Revelers in inns.

Winter Veil Roast and Winter Veil Eggnog - Contained in gifts that require level 1. Can be consumed for effects.

Winter Veil Cookie - Contained in gifts that require level 1.

Wand of Holiday Cheer - Contained in gifts that require level 10.

Winter-themed items like Green Helper Box, Red Helper Box, Snowman Kit, Jingling Bell are contained in gifts that require level 20.

Mechanical Greench, 5x Preserved Holly, rare crafting recipes - Contained in Ticking Gifts that require level 40 and have a chance to contain recipes.

Rare recipes like Elixir of Frost Power, Edge of Winter schematic, Snowmaster 9000, Enchant Weapon – Winter’s Might - Reward from quests or contained in gifts available after December 25th.

Winter Hats - Green and Red hats can drop from mobs in Blackfathom Deeps raid.

Gnome Disguise - Obtained from Wintervolt machines near cities.

SoD Winter Veil Event Gold Making Tips 2023

Farm small eggs from birds in Redridge Mountains. As mentioned in the video, the price of small eggs has increased substantially on most realms due to demand from the event. You can make 10-20g per hour just farming eggs and selling them. Sell tough condor meat in stacks of 5. The meat is used for a Winter Veil quest that requires turning in stacks of 5. Listing the meat in stacks makes it more appealing to buyers who want to quickly complete the quest.

Craft and sell seasonal items like gingerbread cookies. The recipe is obtained from the event and people will pay a premium for cookies to complete related quests. Scan the auction house for cheap preserved holly and mistletoe then resell at a higher price. These items provide buffs and have more value during the event.

Open gifts obtained from quests manually or via an addon to salvage any rare recipes. These recipes for items like engineering schematics have quite a high value. Run the Winter Veil daily quests that reward WoW Classic SoD gold and seasonal items. Some items retain value after the event too. Camp the auction house as new recipes are discovered from gifts and undercut sellers for profits. Demand will be high during the active event.
