Season of Discovery 25 Level PvP Tier List (1v1, Raid, BGs) | WoW SoD Best PvP Class Ranking

12/1/2023 8:34:43 PM

With this WoW Season of Discovery PvP Tier List, we rank all classes at 25 levels by breaking down their potential in 1v1, Group, Raid, Battlegrounds PvP!

WoW Season of Discovery PvP Tier List for 25 Level in Phase 1

In Classic WoW, every class is viable for PvP in some capacity, though some like Frost Mage, Subtlety Rogue, and SL Warlock have been historically oppressive in 1v1s. However, Classic is not about fair fights - investing time into gear, buffs, consumables gives massive advantages in PvP. Runes also remove many class weaknesses like Warrior's lack of mobility. Classic rewards preparation time - the more invested, the more unkillable you become. If out-prepared, bring friends next time. For WoW Season of Discovery specifically, Ashenvale PvP will likely emphasize raid PvP at BFD chokepoints, becoming like BRM. It's unclear how the Ashenvale events will play out, but described similarly to AV with bosses and capturable bases, it could be open-world PvP like Wintergrasp. If rewards are good, expect major lag. In the chaos, AoE classes like Mage, Hunter, and Shaman will likely perform well. Overall, every class can excel in Classic PvP through preparation, and the design of Ashenvale promotes raid PvP where AoE shines. Skill and coordination overcome any weakness.

With that being said, let’s sum up the WoW Classic SoD PvP Tier List for 25 Level by going over the potential performances of each class in different PvP contents:

1. Warlock (S+ Tier)

1v1: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Small Group: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Raid PvP: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

BGs: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tank Warlocks with 500% armor, double Shielded, Healthstone, Drain Life, and instant damage should not exist for PvP as they are far too durable with insane self-sustain while still dishing out high damage. Priests and Shamans purging shields/hots may be the only counter. In 1v1, no one can outlast a Tank Lock with physical DPS tickling them and casters envying their survivability. Even Ret Paladins struggle to burn through shields before getting whittled down. In small groups, Tank Locks are nearly raid bosses. For raid PvP, Warlocks lack the AoE of Mages but still contribute solid damage. In Battlegrounds, though mediocre in past brackets, Tank Locks are now nearly unkillable demon kings with their overpowered rune bonuses. Overall, 500% armor and double shields make Tank Warlocks broken in all PvP scenarios, excelling in durability and outlasting all except elite purges.

2. Hunter (S Tier)

1v1: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Small Group: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Raid PvP: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

BGs: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hunters will likely be the most dominant PvP class in the 25 bracket, although they lack scatter trap for getaways. Their unmatched kiting and damage output, especially for Beast Mastery, make them incredibly strong 1v1 in open world where they can kite endlessly. In small group PvP, Hunters can CC and burst down targets from range while their scaled pet could potentially solo some classes. They lack large AoE for raid PvP but have long range to pick off targets with targeted damage. Hunters will particularly shine in WSG where their range damage and others' lack of mounts ensure they can control mid. Overall, Hunters are kings of kiting and have phenomenal damage for the 25 bracket, which will make them a top choice for all types of PvP, especially 1v1 and WSG.

3. Mage (S Tier)

1v1: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Small Group: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Raid PvP: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

BGs: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Frost Mages are stacked coming into the 25 SoD meta, gaining Ice Lance, Icy Veins, Fingers of Frost, and Cold Snap. While lacking Cone of Cold and Ice Block, the burst potential from Fingers of Frost and Icy Veins is incredible. Their control heavy kit is further enhanced by these cooldowns. In 1v1 PvP, Frost has nearly unbeatable cooldown potential, able to dead zone Hunters and only struggling into Paladins. In small group PvP, Mage burst can be mitigated by dispels and healing, but remains strong in coordination. For raid PvP, abilities like Blizzard, Frost Nova, and Arcane Explosion make Mages incredibly impactful. Similarly in WSG, Frost thrives in mid-field fights pumping out ranged damage, though they can struggle locking down mobile Druids. Overall, the critical cooldowns and control abilities in the Frost arsenal at 25 give them tremendous PvP potential, only held back by the lack of Ice Block and strong sustain.

4. Paladin (S Tier)

1v1: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Small Group: ⭐⭐⭐

Raid PvP: ⭐⭐

BGs: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Healing: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Paladins gain significant damage increases coming into Season of Denial, especially in the 25 bracket from runes. Their immunity to fear coupled with instant damaging abilities make them very strong in 1v1 situations, though still kitable by hunters. In small groups, Retribution paladins can put out strong damage but need support through crowd control and heals from allies to reach their full potential. In large raid PvP battles, paladins provide minimal benefit beyond off-healing and consecration in choke points. However, they thrive in battlegrounds where their on-demand stun and utility buffs like Freedom make them invaluable assets. Holy paladins may not have the strongest raw healing output, but their abundant utility like buffs and Freedom more than compensate, making them extremely valuable healers.

5. Priest (A Tier)

1v1: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Small Group: ⭐⭐⭐

Raid PvP: ⭐⭐

BGs: ⭐⭐⭐

Healing: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Although Priests lack much of their Shadow kit at 25, they still get critical spells like Shield, Renew, and Devouring Plague giving substantial self-healing and durability. This makes them strong duelists able to outlast many classes, especially with DoTs finishing kills if they die first. In small groups, Priest healing provides immense survivability and reasonable damage. For raid PvP, Priest healing output is unmatched though Shadow lacks ranged AoE of other casters. In Battlegrounds, Shadow Priests excel in 1v1 scenarios but oom too quickly in organized play. However, healing Priests are highly desired for premades with their versatility. Overall, Priests lack their full Shadow kit but have the essential healing and survivability tools at 25 to make them top tier healers and durable duelists, if not the strongest overall contributors.

6. Shaman (A Tier)

1v1: ⭐⭐

Small Group: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Raid PvP: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

BGs: ⭐⭐⭐

Healing: ⭐⭐⭐

Elemental Shamans will have extremely strong burst at level 25 and excel in group PvP where they can be protected, but Enhancement lacks their full toolkit until later levels. In 1v1 situations, Elemental lacks keep away tools and is vulnerable to CC and kicks. Enhancement can fare better in melee but struggles to compete. However, in small group PvP, teammates can peel and allow Elemental to free cast their devastating burst. This makes them much more viable in groups where their weaknesses are covered. Similarly, in raid PvP, Chain Lightning provides insane AoE damage and combined with single target burst makes Elemental highly impactful until groups close in. In Battlegrounds, though strong in mid-field, Shamans can get locked down and focused. As healers, Shamans provide good throughput but lack the versatility and support of Paladins and Priests. Overall, Elemental Shamans shine in group settings where their burst can be fully leveraged, while Enhancement and solo healing lag until later levels.

7. Druid (B Tier)

1v1: ⭐⭐⭐

Small Group: ⭐⭐⭐

Raid PvP: ⭐⭐

BGs: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Healing: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Druids get many critical parts of their Feral and Balance kits early on, but will still likely struggle in 1v1s without cheesing fights. Balance will function similar to Elemental Shamans with less damage but more CC options. In 1v1s, Druids can cheese many matchups with mobility and roots but will struggle against stronger duelists like Rogues and Warlocks, though their stealth gives them a 5/5 for ganking. In small groups, Feral excels at locking down targets with stuns, roots and charges for focused bursts. In raid PvP, Feral roots out of position targets but lacks major damage to dive in as Cat. However, Druids remain the best flag carriers in WSG with their mobility. As healers, Druids have strong CC and throughput but lack key dispels and instant heals of Priests. Overall, Druids are well-rounded but don't dominate any one area at 25, relying on niche utility and mobility though they scale up well in later levels.

8. Rogue (B Tier)

1v1: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Small Group: ⭐⭐⭐

Raid PvP: ⭐

BGs: ⭐⭐⭐

Unfortunately Rogues lack critical abilities like Cheap Shot and Blind at 25, instead getting Between the Eyes as a Kidney Shot replacement. Without Cheap Shot, Rogues will struggle to pull off their signature CC chains and 100-0 bursts, significantly hampering their dueling potential. They can still put out solid damage to overwhelm some classes without Cheap Shot. In small group PvP, Rogues can lock down and focus targets with remaining CC, but become vulnerable when focused fired. In raid PvP they are practically useless at 25. However, Rogues excel in WSG for flag defense and recovery; though their stealth speed is painfully slow, they can still lock down flag carrier Druids. Their CC gives them an edge in flag defense over Hunters, though they get outshined later on. Overall, the lack of Cheap Shot and other key abilities prevents Rogues from reaching their full potential at 25, but they retain enough tools to find specialized success in settings like WSG.

9. Warrior (B Tier)

1v1: ⭐

Small Group: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Raid PvP: ⭐

BGs: ⭐⭐

Although warriors gain some critical PvP tools at 25 like Warbringer, the lack of Intercept and Mortal Strike significantly hampers their viability in both 1v1 and group PvP. Warbringer allows warriors to Charge in combat but they can still be kited by many classes and will likely lose 1v1 to most. However, with support from a healer and dispel, warriors thrive in small group PvP where they can stick to targets using Hamstring and AoE shouts. In large scale raid PvP at 25, warriors are nearly useless without heals, ranged attacks, or significant AoE. They perform better at later levels. Similarly in battlegrounds, warriors need a coordinated group to shine since they lack the versatility of other classes at 25, but can find success with support. Overall, warriors gain important tools at 25 but still suffer from critical weaknesses until later levels.
