EA SPORTS is on the agenda in the coming weeks. The World Cup will be a topic for the FIFA developer and FIFA 19 is also in the planning stage. Now EAs CEO Andrew Wilson has announced in a conference the next steps and promised exciting things for FIFA 19.

Publisher Electronic Arts presented the financial results for the first quarter of 2018, which ended on 31 March. The company also gave some details about upcoming games, including the new Battlefield game, FIFA 19 and Anthem from BioWare.

EA announces "exciting plans" for FIFA 19

"It's an important year for the company across platforms," says EA CEO Andrew Wilson, announcing his announcement at the conference call. Elemental important in this context are the titles Madden NFL, NBA Live and NHL. In addition, the mobile titles and FIFA Online 4 will be the focus of EA SPORTS.

As for FIFA 19, they want to take the momentum of the World Cup in Russia, which is why they have some "very exciting plans for FIFA 19". Wilson did not want to go into detail yet and referred to the EA Play, which takes place from 9 to 11 June. There they want to announce then the first information.

The first signs of FIFA 19 have already become public in recent months. So EA is looking for new leagues and the first player recordings have already appeared on the net.

FIFA 19, Anthem and Battlefield

EA confirmed that the new Battlefield game will appear in the third quarter of this year and that Anthem will be released in the fourth fiscal quarter, which ends on 31 March 2019. Battlefield 5, as the game has been called to date, will get a new unique mode and new challenges, and it will also contain multiple maps and modes for the multiplayer. Earlier rumors appeared that EA would like to add a battle royale mode to Battlefield, but that has not yet been confirmed by EA.

Every dimension in Anthem has to offer something new, whether it's stories or co-op, the gameplay will evolve constantly and 'it's a fantastic social experience' according to EA CEO Andrew Wilson. Wilson also once again indicated that Anthem is being developed on the basis of feedback from players. New information about FIFA 19 will be published during EA Play in June.

The presentation showed that A Way Out had almost two million players at the end of the quarter. EA announced last month that more than 1 million units have been sold in less than a month. The Battlefield community now has a total of more than 54 million players. The publisher also spoke about the growth of EA Sports titles, especially the FIFA and Madden franchises are doing very well.

The company announced that EA Sports games now have nearly 90 million players for games released for the current generation of consoles. Almost 18 million players play FIFA 18 and Madden NFL 18, the latest games in both series. That is a growth of 75 percent compared to the same period a year earlier. EA recorded a net increase in net revenue for the quarter's quarter (the last fiscal quarter of 2017), up from 3.3 percent to 1.58 billion compared to the same period a year earlier.
