How to Play 4-4-1-1 Formation in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team

Is 4-4-1-1 a good formation in FUT 23? It is a really solid and compact formation, which is tough to play against as there is no space anywhere for people to be able to exploit. In addition, the 4411 formation is very smooth in transition, passing and creating chances in this formation are pretty easy. Lastly, it does a great job of defending, the only area you need to worry about is behind the midfielders for anybody who uses essential CAMs. Overall, FIFA 23 4411 is a brilliant formation that not a lot of people use but definitely worth playing. 

Best 4411 Custom Tactics in FIFA 23 

Firstly, we’ll get into the custom tactics by RG11 you can apply on the 4411 formation, including offensive and defensive tactics.  

Defence

- Defensive Style: Balanced. Go with Balanced to control the game, it is not a formation in that we need a press to be able to pull our players out of position and leave any space for the opponent. 

- Width: 50. You want to keep that middle of the pitch compact, it is best to push people out wide and have a much more compact and solid midfield. 

- Depth: 55. There is no CDM in the 4411 formation, or that sort of player to sweep up behind, this makes it a bit easier for your opponents to counter, so choosing 55 depth allows you to get forward and dominate and be on the front, but a good passing the most important thing to make the formation work.

Offence 

- Build Up Play: Slow Build Up. This is a formation where your players are quite close together, so quick and sharp passing is really easy, but because of the lack of a CDM, fast build-up would leave your players far too exposed, this means you would have to start controlling center-backs and fullbacks, and dragging them out, which is never something you want to defensively, you need to take care of the ball in midfield to avoid these situations as much as possible. 

- Chance Creation: Possession. The reason to go with possession is that direct passing would open up way too much, and possession allows you to really cut through your opponents in a different way, which is very effective and control those games. 

- Width: 65. Leave it at 65, you have some width in those wide midfielders, you really want to use that and stretch the pitch and if you use them correctly in tandem with the fullbacks, you can create a lot of gaps and holes in the midfield and that is where that fast sharp accurate passing really comes into its own when you can exploit that space. 

- Players In Box: 5. To make our instructions to dictate where the players go and make sure that those wide midfielders stay where they need to be, they do need to get into the box from time to time, but especially those midfielders you don't want those going too far forwards because then you have no cover back. 

- Corners: 3. Leave it on three, if you are someone who is always concerned about counterattacks, you can leave them on one.

- Free Kicks: 1 

Best 4411 Player Instructions in FIFA 23 

Moving on to another important part of this formation, let's go through instructions for each player in the squad. 

- ST: Leave him on Stay Central and Get In Behind. The main job of the striker is there to put the ball in the back of the net, it's really vital that this striker and the center forward link up well because these two are going to score the bulk of your goals, the assists, and the chance created, so they are very important to the success of this formation, and you need to have probably best players in this position. High shooting, good pace, four-star weak foot, and high reactions are important stats. 

- CF: Have him on Stay Central and do nothing else, because you don't need him to do a specific role, his main role is sort of to link up with the striker, and from time to time to be able to drop in and link the play between the midfielders. You want to have high dribbling, short passing, good pace, and a four-star weak foot. 

- LM & RM: Come Back On Defence, Get in Behind, Get Into The Box For Cross. The reason to have them on come back on defense is that we have the fullbacks on balance. Just having the wide players being able to sit in that space if the fullback is out of position, really helps slow your opponent down whilst your fullback is getting back into position, and then it makes it quite difficult to break down. Choosing Get in behind and get into the box is because we do want them getting in when the other one is crossing or cutting the ball back, it's really important that they do that roll. Important stats include high pace, high dribbling, four-star weak foot, and four-star skill moves.

- CM: Have them both on Balanced Attack, Stay on Edge Of Box For Cross and Cover Center. They are used as box-to-box midfielders and we do need them to do a good job in both boxes, both attacking and defending, as that's how we use them, but we still need them to cover the center and cover passing lanes when we do get back into that defensive shape. Focus on well-rounded dribbling, high stamina, high interceptions, and short passing. There are other ways you can choose to play with this formation as well. 

- LB & RB: Have them on a Balanced Attack to make attacking much easier with somebody that loves to attack, we want to get forward as much as possible and we want them to link up with those wide midfielders, but if you are someone who struggles with defending, then you can leave them on stay back while attacking. The key attributes that you want to look for when choosing your fullbacks are you want to have high defending and high physical/strength, allowing your attackers to get forwards and to be able to dictate how your wingers work, you also want to have good reliable short passing because they're going to need playing a lot of passes into that midfield, a lot of cutbacks as well when they get into the final third.

- CB: Keep both of the center-backs on Stay Back While Attacking, key attributes are defensive awareness, acceleration, aggression, and composure/reactions. 

- GK: Comes for Crosses and Sweeper Keeper. If you are someone that controls your goalkeeper then these instructions aren't super important. For goalkeepers, you really want to focus on reflexes, reactions, and height attributes, they are the only things that matter when your AI is in control of your goalkeeper.
