As is always the case, there are bug fixes and balancing changes. So in this guide, we're going to go through what all of Elden Ring 1.04 patch notes are, so you get a better understanding of how the game will play after this patch.
Elden Ring Update 1.04 Patch Notes - Buffs, Nerfs, Changes, Rivers of Blood Stealth Nerf & Colossal Weapons Buffs
There are a couple of new things added, first is the ability to turn off camera auto rotate. What this means is when the camera rotates slightly when you're like fighting an enemy it sort of auto adjusts as you move, that would be fantastic that can get really annoying sometimes. And additionally, they've added some new event phases to patches. Now let’s get right into the new Elden Ring patch 1.04 notes!
Balancing Changes
- The bulk of these changes at least in terms of the weapons have to do with colossal weapons and colossal swords and the damage that they deal and the attack speed that they attack as well as the recovery times.
- This is a shift to try and get away from the jump dual wield meta in order to get people to use single colossal weapons a bit more frequently.
- If you've been looking to use a colossal weapon or you're using a colossal weapon setup, your build probably just got a lot better.
- It looks like they've buffed the grafted blade greatsword specifically as well as the devour receptor to increase their damage.
- They've reduced the status effect build up on spells and incantations if you're using the auburn x staff or the dragon communion seal. These two weapons have arcane scaling meaning that you can play an arcane spellcaster with them. So the benefit of that was that you could build up status effects more easily when casting spells while using these. So now it's a little bit of a nerf to make it a little less powerful compared to other seals and staffs.
- They've decreased the effect of the great shield talisman for weapons with high block rate, what that means here is that they've reduced the amount of guard boost, this provides to weapons with high guard boost. So that you can't abuse some sort of high guard boost weapon as a shield while still blocking most of the damage.
- A huge change for pvp fans out there is that the length of the madness affliction animation has been shortened and the speed of recovering from madness build up is faster. This is going to make it harder for you to gain the madness status effect in pvp.
- The last major change here is endurance and mind are gaining a buff to how much fp and stamina they provide at lower levels.

Bug Fixes
- The carrying retaliation bug, you could use carry in retaliation to deal 8-12000 damage and one trigger because of the way damage was calculating this was obviously bugged.
- The Rennala Queen of the Full Moon fight where when you're co-opting you can't help the host sometimes like the shield remains up even when she drops to the ground, or you can't see or attack the enemies that have the shields around them. This bug fix will affect basically anyone who's co-opting that fight.
- There is a bug preventing players from entering the boss arena after defeating Morgott, the Omen King. That's huge because that could potentially be a game breaking bug.
- Another bug fix people be happy with is the Edgar the Revenger and Festering Fingerprint Vyke. Apparently, these guys didn't invade you after you defeated all the bosses and learning at the lake, now they should again and so if you want like fight spear for instance, you can go get it. So make sure to go check those invasions out, locations of them should be on the Vyke.
- There are also other a bunch of other bug fixes regarding other quest lines for other npcs, so if you've been having trouble with a quest line with a particular npc, you might want to go check it out after this update and see if it's working now.
- They fixed a bug that made the scythe weapon lose blood loss when poison affinity was applied to it.
- Iron Greatsword was doing lower damage than expected when affinity is applied. That weapon already slaps so hard.
- Night Comet was consuming more FP when casting it will charge.
- They increased online multiplayer stability.
- Other performance improvements and bug fixes.
