Elden Ring Nightreign Leaks: Bosses, Classes, Weapons, Map, Crossplay, Gameplay & More

3/18/2025 11:45:12 AM

FromSoftware’s upcoming expansion, Elden Ring: Nightreign, has been at the center of attention in recent weeks. With the game still two months away from release, leaks have already surfaced, revealing gameplay, a previously unseen hero, and returning bosses from the Dark Souls series. On top of that, the Nightreign network test provided key insights into the game’s mechanics, hero balancing, and how it differs from the base game.

While Bandai Namco has been swift in taking down leaked footage, the information is already out there. Here we compile all the available information about the game's structure and upcoming DLC, covering leaked content, network test findings, official announcements,

How did the Lastest Elden Ring Nightreign Leak Happen?

Over the weekend, a low-quality video showed Nightreign gameplay on TikTok. At first glance, it could have been mistaken for footage from the closed network test, but closer inspection revealed entirely new content. This was not a mod or a fan project—this was legitimate gameplay footage.

Bandai Namco quickly responded by issuing copyright strikes against anyone reposting the footage, confirming its authenticity. The leaker, claiming to be an alpha tester, stated that the network test only included around 40% of the alpha’s content. However, it's unclear if this person was the original source or if they obtained the footage from someone else.

Regardless, they announced plans to release even more gameplay and even host a live stream, which was quickly shut down. If the leaker was indeed a tester, they have likely lost their access, and Bandai Namco is expected to track down the source of the leak.

What Elden Ring Nightreign Leaks & Details Do We Know So Far?

Aside from leaks, the Nightreign network test provided valuable insights into the game’s mechanics, hero balancing, and overall structure. Here are some key takeaways.  So here we cover all the details we know about Elden Ring Nightreign so far:

1. Bosses: New & Returning Foes

Leaked Returning Bosses from Dark Souls

Two well-known enemies from the Dark Souls series have been spotted in leaked gameplay:

  • Dancer of the Boreal Valley (Dark Souls 3) – A swift and deadly opponent, known for her unpredictable attack patterns. Only her movement animations were shown, but she is expected to be a night-time encounter.

  • Gaping Dragon (Dark Souls 1) – A grotesque, massive creature that uses acid-based attacks. It was seen coating the battlefield in acid, instantly eliminating one of the player’s Spirit Summons. Given the faster pace of Nightreign, adjustments will likely be made to make it a greater threat.

Confirmed Night Lords in the Network Test

The network test featured Triphos, a three-headed wolf wielding a chain sword, as one of the eight Night Lords that serve as the expansion’s ultimate adversaries. Players can select which Night Lord to fight at the Roundtable Hold before beginning their run.

Other Confirmed Bosses

  • Centipede Demon (Dark Souls 1) – A returning enemy from Dark Souls 1, redesigned for Nightreign’s faster-paced combat.

  • Draconic Tree Sentinel (Elden Ring) – A heavily armored warrior with powerful attacks and fire-based abilities.

  • Morgit, the Fell Omen (Elden Ring) – The first major boss of Elden Ring returns as a roaming enemy.

  • Duke’s Dear Freja (Dark Souls 2) – A giant, two-headed spider surrounded by smaller arachnids.

Other bosses include a massive dragon-like creature with an oversized jaw and a mysterious toad-like entity with glowing eyes.

2. Classes: Playable Heroes

Unlike Elden Ring’s open-ended character creation, Nightreign introduces eight predefined Heroes, each with unique abilities and specializations.

Heroes Available in the Network Test

  • Wilder – A tank-like warrior with high durability.

  • Guardian – A defensive fighter built for survivability.

  • Recluse – A magic-based hero specializing in ranged attacks.

  • Duchess – A glass-cannon character with high burst damage.

Leaked & Confirmed Additional Heroes

  • Spirit Summoner (Leaked Hero) – Specializes in Spirit Summons, capable of maintaining three summons at once.

  • Hunter – A ranged specialist, likely using bows and traps.

  • Ninja-like Hero – A dexterity-based fighter with counterattack abilities.

  • Ram-Horn Warrior – A brute-force melee fighter wielding a massive axe.

Unlike many hero-based games, Nightreign allows multiple players to choose the same character in co-op mode.

3. Weapons & Combat Mechanics

Weapon Scaling & Hidden Stats

Weapons in Nightreign have hidden scaling, meaning each hero has unseen Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Faith stats that influence weapon effectiveness. While all heroes can use any weapon, certain characters perform better with specific weapon types due to their hidden attributes.

Status Effects & Weapon Drops

Bleed and Frostbite remain highly effective, with status effects triggering more easily than in Elden Ring. Bosses drop weapons tied to their elemental nature:

  • Ancient Heroes of Zamor drop frost-infused weapons.

  • Sanguine Nobles provide blood-infused weapons.

Dragons Drop High-Quality Loot

Defeating dragons often rewards purple or orange weapons, making them valuable targets.

Perfect Block & Perfect Dodge System

A new mechanic allows for precise parries and dodges, though its full effects remain unclear.

4. Maps (Zones) & Exploration

The network test featured a single version of Limgrave, but the final game will introduce procedurally generated elements that alter the landscape with each run.

Dynamic World Changes

  • Volcanoes – Large lava zones that can emerge in different locations.

  • Scarlet Rot Swamps – Non-poisonous swamps that appear randomly between runs.

Evergaols & Caves Provide Limited Rewards

  • Evergaols do not drop loot, making them less rewarding compared to other bosses.

  • Caves mainly serve as traversal points rather than key locations for battles or treasure.

5. Crossplay & Multiplayer Features

Crossplay is supported on Elden Ring Nightreign across platforms. Traditional Elden Ring messages are absent, but players can interact with red corpses of fallen players, which drop loot. The ping system is essential for teamwork, as runs where players use pings effectively tend to be more successful.

6. Gameplay Mechanics & Replayability

Roguelike Elements & RNG

Each run in Nightreign is impacted by randomized loot drops and enemy spawns. While skilled players can overcome bad RNG, some runs may feel harder due to poor item drops. Good RNG can make a run much easier, while bad luck can create overwhelming challenges. This unpredictability adds variety to each playthrough, making every session feel different.

Solo vs. Team Play

The game is balanced around three-player co-op, making solo runs far more challenging. Solo players do not need to share loot but must handle multi-enemy fights alone.

What are the Upcoming Elden Ring DLC 2 & Post-Launch Plans?

One of the biggest surprises surrounding Nightreign is that DLC has already been confirmed.

Bandai Namco’s website lists a Nightreign DLC in the Deluxe and Collector’s Editions. The expansion will include new heroes, bosses, and areas. The expected release window is late 2025. Interestingly, FromSoftware has stated that the DLC has not yet entered production and will begin development after Nightreign’s launch. This suggests that post-launch support will be based on fan reception and gameplay balance adjustments.

When Will Elden Ring Nightreign Release?

The release date for Elden Ring: Nightreign is set for May 30, 2025. This information was revealed following the trademark registration by Bandai Namco Entertainment on October 24, 2024, and was officially announced at The Game Awards 2024 in December.

With the official release approaching, fans still have plenty to look forward to. The question now is how Nightreign will evolve post-launch and if it will maintain long-term replayability. Time will tell.
