Elden Ring 1.15 Colossal Weapons Tier List - 20 Best Colossals Ranked In Elden Ring

10/11/2024 2:47:51 PM

The colossal weapon is the most unique and weirdest weapon category in Elden Ring.  In this article, we got you a Elden Ring 1.15 colossal tier list, ranking 20 colossal weapons from worst to best.

Elden Ring 1.15 Best Colossal Weapons - Elden Ring 1.15 Colossal Ranking & Tier List

In Elden Ring, colossal weapons tend to be very hard-hitting but very slow.  But now they have been buffed plenty of times throughout the recent updates, so some of the move sets might be a bit quicker and feel a lot more consistent to use. Next, let’s dive into our Elden Ring 1.15 colossal ranking. Every weapon on this Elden Ring 1.15 colossal tier list differs greatly in terms of stance damage or motion values. However, in a game like this where enemies tend to be really fast, these slower types of weapons that have long animations and cost a lot of stamina might not be as effective with how fast some of these bosses are.

D Tier

  • Dragon Greatclaw

The Dragon Greatclaw is one of the worst weapons in the Elden Ring colossal weapons tier list 1.15. Not only does it not have a unique ash of war skill, but its base weapon stats are also quite poor. It has low damage output even with split damage scaling, and its strength and dexterity scaling is weak. As a colossal weapon, it only deals standard damage rather than piercing as its claw-like shape would suggest. It also gets very low stance damage for a weapon of its class. While it has light weight and low requirements, there are other weapons that outperform it in these areas. Perhaps most disappointing is that it is stuck with the basic Endure ash of war rather than something more fitting of its dragon theme.

  • Rotten Staff

The Rotten Staff has some niche uses with its decent range and low stat requirements for a colossal weapon. However, its total damage is not competitive with other strength-scaling weapons of its size. Its main feature is passive rot buildup, but this is not very useful against bosses that typically have high rot resistance. bosses are really the only enemies its rot would be effective against. Like the Dragon Greatclaw, it missed an opportunity to have a unique ash of war skill centered around its rotten theme. A rot-based skill would have made it more viable, especially for early game rot builds. However, it inexplicably shares the standard holy skill with another weapon rather than getting an ability related to its source as the avatar's staff.

  • Rotten Greataxe

The Rotten Greataxe is one of the few infusable colossal weapons, however, its passive rot buildup is not seen as very useful. As a slow, heavy weapon, it would take a long time to apply rot even with skills that can hit multiple times. By the time rot is proc'd on a boss, it would be better to use a weapon with much higher damage output instead. The Rotten Greataxe deals the lowest damage of all infusable colossal weapons, and other strength-based options can outdamage it as well. If rot scaling was tied to arcane, it may be more viable for quickly applying status, but as it stands there are better sources of rot in the game. The Dualist Greataxe was seen as a preferable version, as it does more damage and can be acquired earlier without the rot attribute.

C Tier

  • Staff of the Avatar

The Staff of the Avatar has some niches with its good strength/faith scaling potentially leading to high damage output as a split holy weapon. However, in the base game holy resistance is common, limiting its damage potential for most encounters. It has good ranged attacks and AR compared to other colossal weapons. However, the DLC introduces the Shadowman's Snowflower which outclasses it with better faith scaling, a superior moveset from its heavy attack, and the unique Shadowman's Flame incantation. Meanwhile, the Staff of the Avatar's O, Tree! skill is simply a reskin of Golden Vow, which is objectively a better skill. This limits its usefulness compared to weapons introduced later in the game.

  • Troll’s Hammer

The Troll's Hammer has some upsides as one of the few colossal weapons that can be buffed, though it cannot be infused and requires smithing stones to upgrade. It gets relatively high stance damage as a striking weapon. While its Troll's Roar ash of war is not unique, it provides a useful AOE attack. It gets decent strength scaling and a small faith scaling as well, allowing a faith build to boost its damage output. However, the lack of a fire-based spell buff limits its potential as a strength/faith hybrid weapon. While it deals strike and fire damage, without better scaling or a unique ability it falls short of standing out.

  • Axe of Godfrey

The Axe of Godfrey, as one of the boss weapons, highly disappointing. Despite representing strength, it only has mediocre strength scaling and overall low AR compared to other colossal options. Its stance damage values are inferior as well, doing as little as straight swords on some attacks for a weapon of its huge size. While its Regal Roar skill raises damage and scaling temporarily, other weapons outdamage it even with the buff. Most problematic is its abysmally low stance damage on attacks like its fully charged heavy, limiting its ability to trade or stance break opponents. This boss weapon failed to live up to expectations and needed much higher scaling and stance damage values to compete.

B Tier

  • Great Club

The Great Club is known for its decent strength scaling and relatively low weight for a colossal weapon. Its downward slam heavy attack in particular was highlighted as one of the best, dealing high damage and stance break. However, its inability to be infused significantly holds it back, limiting builds that could further boost its damage. While its holy split damage allows pairing with buffs, other weapons outclass it later with better options. Its golden land ash of war adds utility but poor faith scaling means it's not maximized on a caster build. Overall a solid base game option but outdone by infusible weapons that can utilize buffs and skills more effectively.

  • Golem’s Halberd

The Golem's Halberd has the highest range of infusable colossal weapons. It outdamages some other choices like the Duelist Greataxe while weighing less than alternatives like the Guts Greatsword. Its charge forth ash of war and inherent piercing damage provides capability against smaller enemies. However, its damage doesn't match top choices and it lacks versatility compared to weapons with sweeping heavy attacks or access to poker skills. While a decent heavy attack build contender, other options exist with higher stance damage values or ability to utilize buffs for greater power. A unique light attack combo incorporating piercers could have utilized its range better but ultimately several weapons perform better in both damage and moveset variety.

  • Devonia’s Hammer

The Devonia's Hammer is a decent strength/faith weapon that can be acquired early. However, it was seen as outclassed by the Omen Cleaver, which has a faster-charging and higher stance damage skill. While the Devonia's skill has good AoE and stance damage on its uncharged version, the long animation of its charged skill makes it less viable against bosses than other weapons. It received praise for damage potential and working with Crucible Knight gear, but was still viewed as lacking compared to options with better skills. Being restricted to the Omen Cleaver skill held it back from standing out more.

  • Shadow Sunflower Blossom

The Shadow Sunflower Blossom has high holy damage, strong strength/faith scaling, and possession of one of the best heavy attacks. This slam deals excellent stance damage and has good range. Its unique skill, while comparable to the heavy attack, has less potential for hyper armor trading and damage. It also receives slightly outclassed by the Bloodhorned Arm, which has the same moveset but allows for infusions and buffs to boost its performance further. While a solid choice overall provided by the late-game DLC, other options are seen to optimize strength/faith builds slightly better through infusions or better skill options.

A Tier

  • Duelist Greataxe

The Duelist Greataxe has the highest base damage of colossal weapons, though its low scaling sees it outdamaged at higher levels. While its dexterity scaling is better, a strength build maximizes its damage when two-handed. It was praised for light weight and early damage potential but criticized for short range, poor stance damage values, and lack of a unique skill set. However, its charged attacks deal high strike bonus damage, allowing viability in a charged heavy build. With earlier accessibility, it could have served players well but is outclassed later on. Overall seen as a mid-tier option held back by limitations in its scaling and moveset.

  • Anvil Hammer

The Anvil Hammer unambiguously has limits its real-world damage versus single-damage infusions, its strength/faith scaling and overall stats were praised. It also boasts very high stance damage and guard counter potential. While its smithing art spear skill is outperformed by basic attacks, it provides utility in crowds or against piercing-weak foes. Charged attacks and counters were deemed better build focuses. Though restricted from buffs that could boost other weapons higher, the Anvil Hammer stands out for raw offensive stats, making it a top strength/faith option.

  • Ghiza’s Wheel

Ghiza's Wheel is incredibly inconsistent weapon that fluctuates wildly between being one of the best or worst options. It has long range for a colossal weapon and scales with both strength and dexterity. Its spinning skill has potential to quickly proc bleed but lacks hyperarmor and is buggy against larger enemies. However, its one-handed heavy attack, which also spins, can deal immense damage when it fully connects thanks to working with hit stacking talismans. But this attack's damage depends on fully grounding enemies, causing unreliability. With some tweaks like more hyperarmor on skills and higher stance damage, it could be top tier, but as is, high variance holds it back.

  • Envoy’s Greathorn

The Envoy's Greathorn is  a better replacement for the Envoy's Longhorn's bubble skill playstyle. It has good tracking bubbles that explode in AoE, useful for sniping bosses from range or hitting clustered enemies. While damage is not as high as other options, it has solid strength/faith scaling to build around when two-handing. Its bubble skill consumes little FP and stamina, allowing constant usage. Though outclassed before, changes to holy damage and the Longhorn nerf have made it more viable for its safe, consistent ranged offense in comparison to Ghiza's Wheel's instability.

  • Watchdog’s Staff

The Watchdog's Staff has unique skill, Sorcery of the Cure. This skill summons invisible, high-tracking projectiles that deal solid stance damage and are very easy for the caster to land consistently on opponents. While its damage potential is held back by lacking intelligence scaling or buffs, the skill is spammable and works better than most actual magic projectiles. It provides excellent ranged offense, though the weapon itself is average. Some players may find its quality scaling and slower moveset limiting compared to other options. Overall though, its stellar skill carries it to high ratings.

  • Prelate’s Inferno Crozier

Prelate’s Inferno Crozier is one of the heaviest and highest single-hit damage dealing weapons. It boasts extremely strong strength scaling when heavy or occult-infused, on par with top choices. While outclassed by the Giant-Crusher's moveset and damage, it finds viability in its unique heavy attack that launches opponents, giving it utility against smaller enemies. Its high requirements also make it usable for jumping Powerstance attack builds when dual wielded. Though overshadowed by similar weapons, specific strengths keep it a strong pick for the right build strategies.

  • Gazing Finger

The Gazing Finger is a good Elden Ring colossal weapon after 1.15 patch because ofits skill, Katas Resentment. This massive holy AoE deals excellent damage and range while launching smaller enemies. It has very low stamina costs and stance damage across all attacks. While held back by dealing only holy damage from its faith scaling and skill, lack of compatibility with certain talismans, it remains highly effective. Only a single bug fix away from potential top-tier ratings.

  • Fallingstar Beast Jaw

The Fallingstar Beast Jaw has the longest range of any colossal weapon by a wide margin. It deals good damage with a quality scaling and inherent piercing. Its Gravity Bolt skill is a quick, tracking projectile useful for harassing bosses or stunlocking crowds. Only consuming modest FP and stamina, it can be spammed effectively. While its skill saw nerfs to stance damage, it retains advantages in mobility and spacing enemy forces granted by its exceptional reach. praised as a top all-rounder.

S Tier

  • Giant-Crusher

The Giant-Crusher is the best Elden Ring 1.15 colossal, as well as the hardest hitting of all infusable weapons per strike. Its powerful strength scaling makes it excel with skills like Lion's Claw and Eruption, benefiting the most from their boosted damage. Though heavy with high requirements, it rewards dedication with raw aggression through its unique flipping heavy attack and excellent guard boosts. Updates improving stance and damage over time further reinforced its status. Versatility in build options and moveset keep it consistently dominant.

  • Bloodfiend's Arm

The Bloodfiend's Arm rose to the top on this Elden Ring 1.15 colossal weapons ranking thanks to having the fastest and highest damaging charge attacks of any colossal weapon. This quick slam also causes a follow-up bleed AoE for huge stance damage when buffed. Its guard counter potential and innate skill synergy with bleeding make it devastating regardless of build. Elemental and bleeding infusions maximize different attributes to remain top tier. Overall damage output, safety through hyper armor trades, and build diversity cement it as not just the premier colossal, but one of Elden Ring's best weapons period.
