Are you starters to WoW Dragonflight 10.1/10.1.5 who are struggling with which melee classes and specs are currently performing the best in Mythic+ dungeons? We have already presented so many DPS melee tier list & rankings, but today we're going to be looking at a new edition of Mythic+ melee DPS tier list. See how the specs are performing after Dragonflight season 2!

WoW Dragonflight 10.1 M+ Melee DPS Tier List 2023 - Ranking Best Meta Melee Specs Mythic+ for Season 2

  • Arms Warrior (C-Tier)

Arms Warrior received a brand new tier set in Season 2. Their 2-piece bonus will increase Deep Wounds Icon Deep Wounds chance to critical strike and its critical strike damage by 5%. In addition, the 4p effect will enable Deep Wounds Icon Deep Wounds's critical strike to have a chance to increase the damage of your next Mortal Strike Icon Mortal Strike by 10% and cause it to deal Physical damage to enemies in front of you, stacking up 3 times. Arms Warrior will enter Season 2 with a brand new tier-set, helping you strengthen your priority-target damage and boss damage. Playing around your tier set will be of significant importance as good management will guarantee better interactions with your tier set and, therefore, better damage output. Just like Fury Warrior, Arms Warriors lack meaningful party-wide utility to help with the newly introduced weekly affixes.

  • Assassination Rogue (C-Tier)

This is one of the specs that is currently mostly during 19s and 20s and it's by no surprise, the spec kind of needs a little bit of a rework or looking into at least in the department of AOE, because it is struggling over there especially when you have competition within your class with Sub and Outlaw, it just becomes a pain to play Assassination when you have those stepping up over there. It is shining on tyrannical, so you're going to see some really decent numbers on bosses especially with the locks from tyrannical. But AOE is still weak and overall the DPS output is okay, so we still have to place it into C tier.

  • Outlaw Rogue (A-Tier)

Outlaw is doing pretty well, it has really solid damage, it's not like Assassination where like you're gig on bosses. Outlaw Rogue will do great in tyrannical and for the fight and the damage profile will still be there regardless of what are you hitting, and also it's still a Rogue. So on top of having a lot of more pluses and ease of access to the way with damage as opposed to Assassination, it still brings the goodness. So this time, Outlaw has to go into an A tier.

  • Survival Hunter (B-Tier)

Survival Hunter has undergone a couple of thing, a couple of changes, obviously they've been buffing AOE and the tier set is heavily more into AOE. It's obviously doing a little bit better than last season, let's place it into B tier. It's not bad and we can possibly see the rise.

  • Enhancement Shaman (A-Tier)

This is one of the stars of the patch, across the board, enhancement is doing like 22s and maybe like a leftover 21 that hasn't been upgraded to a 22. So enhancement in terms of overall progression as expected in the season is doing really well. Similar to Outlaw, it has really good damage across the board, it doesn't feel like it has a specific weakness on tyrannical or fortified, obviously brings a lot to the group especially if you're playing a melee heavy group, you get the plus as well. Specifically if you're playing with a Healer that's not a Restoration Shaman, you're going to get all the good stuff from Enhancement and that's particularly good and everybody has their force it. It's definitely the best A-tier spec.

  • Feral Druid (A-Tier)

Feral Druid’s damage is really good on AOE. They do not require any catering to when setting up pulls and they are not cooldown reliant. They do consistent, high damage on AOE, but are slightly worse than some of the other high A-Tier / S-Tier options. On top of that  Mark of the Wild and  Nature's Vigil are very strong. The downside of Feral is defensiveness and single target damage. Their Single Target when talented into M+ talents is a bit lower than other options at times. This isn't a silver bullet to make them bad, but it is a downside for sure. In most seasons, you would expect Survival Instincts,  Barkskin, and  Predatory Swiftness healing to be enough for 1 spec to have “good survivability.” However, with this season the power creep on survivability and the amount of damage some of these mobs do is very high. The only other real downside is the single target damage of Feral is a bit lower than some other specs. This puts Feral’s survivability a bit lower than a lot of the A-Tier specs, but it is still a very strong M+ spec.

  • Frost DK (D-Tier)

Frost Death Knights specialize in melee combat, utilizing dual-wielded weapons and a variety of abilities to deal damage to enemies. They also have access to magical spells that allow them to control the battlefield, slowing or freezing their enemies. Frost Death Knights are typically considered to be a strong pick for DPS (damage per second) in raid and dungeon content, due to their high burst damage and strong survivability. They have a number of defensive abilities that allow them to absorb or mitigate incoming damage. Their main rotation involves building up charges of runes and using various abilities to spend these charges, dealing damage to their enemies.

In patch 10.1, the first major concern is the boss damage, if you look at all of the other melees, it definitely looks like overall less DPS. We don't know how much players have been able to put those into action, it's very likely they haven't pushed their highest keys yet because they're slightly seeming to do better than Assassination in certain dungeons, but we don't see this like across the board to put it ahead of Assassination. So because the buff just came out and we're looking at this very fresh, we don't have enough data to see how the impact goes along. This may be wrong now because we don't have sufficient data or placing it into detail based on everything we had up until this point. So we put Frost DK in D tier.

  • Fury Warrior (S-Tier)

It is actually doing really good and although we couldn't inspect everybody doing their highest keys in terms of Fury, but they have at least two sets because the Fury tier set is really good. Fury is just very consistent similar to Outlaw, Enhancement, it just has no weaknesses. This is one of the most performing specs that is obviously clearing higher keys and also the damage profile is really pumping. So we put it in the S tier.

  • Havoc DH (S-Tier)

We're looking at a spec that is clearly consistently on average of 20+ keys, there's like a couple of locks with 23, there's like one or two have excessive now that are doing 24 is weirdly enough. Havocs don't clear as high as Fury Warrior for instance, but that's a good indication that is probably going to get for sure so we're putting this into S tier, because it's that often you see data with 24 keys. This is just an indication that Havoc will probably reign supreme if they're not going to get nervous.

  • Subtlety Rogue (S-Tier)

In Season 2, Subtlety Rogue will remain to have its unique damage profile, allowing you to choose when to AoE, funnel-damage and single-target. Yes, they might not have the highest damage profile compared to the rest of the specializations, but their overall value is bolstered by their party-wide strong utility and incredible defenses. Their placement will vary depending on the key level and affixes, but it is safe to say that Rogue is in a dominant position to be one of the most valuable melee damage dealers, yet again, it has to be in front of the S tier.

  • Retribution Paladin (S-Tier)

Ret paladins are no surprise especially in the AOE department, like you have a lot of locks clearing 22s and 23s probably the biggest AOE burst ,that is currently available in the game especially if now they have their four set with hammer of practice, spreading the judgment debuff on all of the targets, getting higher priority in the rotation, it was even the four star overall, didn't increase that much the value of the DPS, but surely it added up to whatever they already did in AOE. The class is very strong plus on top of the cleared keys and the damage profile, Retribution Paladins can actually now survive a lot more than other DPS, this due to the rework, so we're placing it into S-Tier.

  • Windwalker Monk (A-Tier)

The days for Windwalker Monk are not looking bright in Season 2 as their single-target remains a problematic area, stat scaling is one of the worst and their niche AoE damage profile that heavily relies on Touch of Death Icon Touch of Death interactions is shaky. All that being said, we can't deny the overall utility coming from the class as they can easily manuver through the new affixes, help your team with PoisonPoison / DiseaseDisease dispel and on top of that help "peel" for the tank to enable them to kite the non-boss-enemies. Further buffs are the only way to save the spec, first with much higher single-target, followed by additional AoE adjustments to bring it more up to par with the rest of the DPS specializations. We definitely put it into A tier.

  • Unholy DK (B-Tier)

It excels mostly on boss fights, it does really good in AOE, it probably sacrifices less single target than most other specs in the game. It's good especially on tyrannical weeks because you still have to take that boss down and if you're not going to take a super meta of A tier spec, Unholy DK is probably going to save you a lot of time by doing a lot of boss damage. In terms of the performance, it's fair to put it into B tier, probably will get further and further as we move towards the season.
