Dragonflight Ranged DPS Tier List M+ - Raid DPS Rankings in WoW Dragonflight

11/15/2022 10:49:17 AM

The launch of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is in the short while, what is going to be the best ranged DPS in the upcoming WoW expansion? Today we’ll present a Dragonflight ranged DPS tier list along with the pros and cons of each class/spec, as well as raid DPS rankings.

Dragonflight Ranged DPS (Class) Tier List Mythic+ in World of Warcraft

Let’s go through Riplockthegod's Dragonflight DPS tier list for the ranged class in Mythic+, from C-tier to S-tier best ranged classes in WoW Dragonflight based on DPS and strengths and drawbacks of each spec.

C Tier: Marksmanship Hunter, Arcane Mage

- Marksmanship Hunter: this class has high burst damage, which makes it an amazing spec for Mythic+, and has the longest attack range of any spec, which brings a lot of flexibility, they also have extremely high mobility. Marksmanship Hunter is pretty much straightforward, it's not a spec that requires a lot of technical skills by the player on low-end game content. Speaking of weaknesses for Marksmanship Hunter, they are very squishy by default and have low defensive cooldowns, they also lack a lot of single-target damage, and they only really bring one utility to the team.

- Arcane Mage: high burst damage against single and multiple targets, good group utility spells like Remove Curse, can move around quickly and reduce taken damage,  Arcane Mage is one of the best and tankiest casters classes in the game, and excellent battlefield mobility. A weakness is that they are relying on cooldowns for single-target damage. An argument is that they need to be extremely close to melee range to use the ability of Arcane Explosion and they can cause a big problem if you're fighting mobs that will merely attack around them. Arcane Mage has no self-healing to recover from big hits.

B Tier: Affliction Warlock, Destruction Warlock, Elemental Shaman, Shadow Priest, Balance Druid

- Affliction Warlock: one of the strongest classes at dealing high damage with spreading multi-dots, they have excellent AOE over time, it plus five targets that are affected with your Agony and your Seed of Corruption while you're spamming your Malicious Raptor and your Seed of Corruption. Warlock has extremely big toolkit when it comes to survivability, you have passive stamina increase, you also got Dark Pact and Healthstone. One of the drawbacks of this class is bad burst swap damage, and it feels like Affliction lacks single target damage, Affliction is a really slow spec, to be able to get your damage rolling, you need at least 30 to 40 seconds.

- Destruction Warlock: with the spec, you can have good sustain damage over a long period of time, you also got very high two-target bursts with Havoc, and the ability to accumulate soul shards and then cause a large amount of on-demand damage to priority targets. The downsides of Destruction Warlock would be its low AOE burst and low mobility, as well as limited damage while moving.

- Elemental Shaman: this class has everything that you possibly want in the talent tree of that can perform well in every situation, you have lots of different utility options via your talents, and you have a wall on a short cool line that allows us to make big hits without dying. Elemental Shaman is a very nice spec to play in WoW Dragonflight, but it requires some technical skill to play at its best potential. The cons are you have no major defensive cooldown that would allow you to soak a mechanic for a raid or in Mythic Plus, the same thing goes for raid and M+ utility.

- Shadow Priest: excels at single target damage and priority damage, they also have great cleave damage for council-type encounters, you can access to the best single-player external DPS cooldown, you also have extremely good self-healing, making Shadow capable of doing endgame content. For the weakness, the Shadow Priest needs to plan out movement specifically, and can’t stop casting whenever you want. If you want to go a raid build, you need to change up all your talents.

- Balance Druid: you have an incredibly strong ability on the single target DPS and have one of the best single target bursts on a single target boss or a Mythic plus boss in the game, excel on hybrid and multi-target encounters, also have great utility using heals and numerous single and multi-target crowd control, as well as multiple defensive CDs to make you are extremely tanky. The disadvantages are that the talents don't give much impact on your damage whenever you take no damage altering you lose 15 of your overall damage, this gives the Balance Druid very little choice when there's deciding what to pick for the specific content, and it creates a big issue especially when other classes are not balanced.

A Tier: Devastation Evoker, Beast Mastery Hunter, Fire Mage

- Devastation Evoker: it is capable of doing an insane amount of damage while playing the fire niche in the talent tree, you have strong AOE damage but also sustained single Target damage over a longer period of time, making them a very strong class, you also have unlimited Mobility, so you can cast while moving that can come in very handy in some situations. The downside of Evoker is that it is extremely limited to when you can move and when you can stand still, therefore most of your big hits abilities require you to stand still.

- Beast Mastery Hunter: BM Hunter can do all damage while moving, the benefits of this can be to be not be overstated when doing high difficulty or progress content, you bring a solid amount of utility for the group, you have crowd control such as bloodlust and misdirect, extremely big thing is that they have immunity with your Aspect of the Turtle, a good emergency pattern, which often saves your ass. On the other hand, Beast Mastery Hunter is one of the weakest classes with the defense for a longer encounter and will take lots of damage, you have limited aware capability if the mobs are not stacked, a big thing is that your pet will often get stuck inside raids or dungeon, which requires you to dismissing and summoning them again, this can be quite annoying and frustrating to deal with on certain encounters.

- Fire Mage: strong sustained AOE damage over a longer period of time with your Flamestrike or Pyroblast and your Flame Patch, it also has strong single target burst and AOE with your combustion, Fire Mage is the spec that has the most survivability abilities and excellent mobility. A big problem for Fire Mage is that they have no spread clip, if the targets are not stacked, you are also reliant on your combustion up time for you to make the most damage outside of combustion, your damage is not too strong, and have very little passive damage reduction and no relative self-healing.

S Tier: Frost Mage, Demonology Warlock

- Frost Mage: decent sustained single target and cleave damage, one of the few specs left out there prior to clear is when adding additional targets increases your damage to the main target as a first match, you have built-in cooldown reductions, some of which increase the damage you can put out. It also has very good survivability, Frost Mage is also the best major spec if you need better field control. When it comes to weakness, as a Frost Mage, you have very little burst damage, you're also lacking the damage if the targets are separated. It is heavily reliant on high uptime to sustain damage when one enables to consistently the deep damage due to fighting mechanics your damage is extremely low.

- Demonology Warlock: extremely good at both AOE and single target damage over a longer period of time, Demonology Warlock is definitely one of the best-ranged specs out in Dragonflight, you can choose what spec you want. The downside for this class is a very long ramp-up time to do high damage, as well as no immunity and low burst damage in most situations.
