PoE 2 1st Race Event Release Dates, Rewards & How To Play

Grinding Gear Games has officially announced the first Path of Exile 2 race event, which will take place over three weeks starting March 2, 2025 (PST). These races are an opportunity for players to test their speed and skill in a Standard Solo Self-Found environment, competing for exclusive Demigod's Virtue items and even a custom Alienware laptop in the final race. Here is everything you should know about the PoE 2 race event

Path of Exile 2 The First Race Event

While the development team is working on the 0.2.0 content update, expected to release in about one month, the races will keep players engaged. These events mark the first official competitive race format in Path of Exile 2, bringing back the tradition of racing from the original game and introducing new Demigod items as rewards.

How the Race Works

• Players will compete to defeat Doryani in Act 3 as quickly as possible.

• The race takes place in a fixed-layout environment to ensure fairness.

• While not a Hardcore Event, dying will impose a one-minute movement penalty before players can resume.

• The leaderboards will be available in real-time to track progress.

• To join, click the "Join" button on the Character Select screen, create a new character, and wait for the race to begin.

The races will be available on both PC and Console, with a shared prize pool.

First Race Event Prizes & Rewards

Demigod's Virtue Unique Item

The top player of each class will be awarded a Demigod’s Virtue, a unique item exclusive to these events. The classes eligible for this event include:

• Ranger

• Sorceress

• Witch

• Monk

• Warrior

• Mercenary

This means six Demigod's Virtues will be awarded per race, totaling 18 winners across all three races.

Future events will introduce additional classes as they become available in Early Access. Over time, the Demigod items will form a full armor set, including weapons, allowing players to collect the entire set through multiple race events.

Item Details & Customization

• The Demigod’s Virtue provides a 25% increased Rarity of Items Found.

• Upon winning, the item will be added to a Remove-Only stash tab in the player's core leagues.

• Winners can choose to equip, trade, or keep the item as a trophy.

• A /convertracereward command (once implemented) will allow players to convert the item into a cosmetic microtransaction.

• Future leagues will also include a Remove-Only stash tab for these rewards, but they will only become available one month into the league.

Frist Race Event Rules & Participation Guidelines

• Free Entry – Anyone can participate.

• Streaming is optional – Players do not need to stream their gameplay.

• No race limit – Players can enter all three races and win multiple Demigod’s Virtues if they place first in their class.

• Character Naming Policy – Inappropriate names (including those attempting to bypass filters) will result in disqualification.

• Staff & Testers Excluded – Grinding Gear Games staff and Alpha testers with relevant content access are not eligible to win prizes.

All races will be broadcast live on Twitch.tv/pathofexile, featuring shoutcasting by ZiggyD and RaizQT. Co-streaming is allowed, so players and content creators can share their race experiences with their audiences.
