Here's how to make the most of your leveling experience.
With the opening of WoW Classic Fresh TBC servers on the horizon, many players are gearing up for another run through Azeroth. If you're like me, you might be sick of repeating the same quests over and over again. But what if I told you there’s a way to skip most of the questing grind? Dungeon grinding is the answer. By running dungeons efficiently, you can bypass much of the hassle and gear up quickly. Here's how to do it.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of World of Warcraft, a 20th Anniversary Edition related to TBC is launched on WoW Classic with fresh realms! Which class and spec should you play for the WoW Classic Fresh TBC? We'll go over every class, highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each spec, and help you decide which one to pick for PvE, PvP, and Hardcore!
Unfortunately, no matter how much you hate it, you’ll have to quest from levels 1 to 18. There's no way around it. While you can run Ragefire Chasm (RFC) for the quest, it’s not worth grinding repeatedly as the experience is subpar.
Tip: Only run RFC if the world is too crowded to quest efficiently. Otherwise, focus on questing to reach level 18 as quickly as possible.
For the Horde: Wailing Caverns (WC)
At level 18, the true dungeon grinding begins for the Horde in Wailing Caverns. Here’s a quick breakdown:
Skip the Ratchet quest because the mobs outside WC will be camped 24/7.
Grab the Thunder Bluff quest from the cave where you get the portal to Thunder Bluff.
Complete the Crossroads quest chain, which will net you solid experience and a 10-slot bag—super useful at launch!
Wailing Caverns should comfortably take you up to level 24 or even 26. However, WC mostly drops leather gear, making it fantastic for melee classes using leather armor.
For the Alliance: Deadmines (DM)
Alliance players can start dungeon grinding at level 19 in the Deadmines. The loot here is generally better than what’s available in WC, especially for casters.
Pick up three quests from the Dwarven District in Stormwind.
Do the Westfall quest chain - it rewards blue pants that are best in slot for about ten levels.
Kill VanCleef for a follow-up quest to The Stockades.
Deadmines should take you comfortably to level 26.
With the release of WoW Classic Fresh TBC on November 21st, many players are wondering which class and spec they should play for PvE, particularly in raiding. This guide will provide a high-level breakdown of the best classes & specs for each role: Tank, Healer, Ranged DPS, and Melee DPS.
For the Horde: Shadowfang Keep (SFK)
At level 24, Horde players can head to Shadowfang Keep (SFK), one of the best dungeons for leveling. Its high mob density and decent loot make it an excellent choice, especially for casters. There are only a few quests, but the experience makes up for it.
For the Alliance: The Stockades
Alliance players can run The Stockades as early as level 22. While the experience is good, the loot is mediocre. However, if you need cloth, The Stockades will drop plenty of it for tailoring.
Both SFK and The Stockades will take you to level 28.
This level range is a bit of a "dead zone" for dungeon grinding. You can:
Quest from 28 to 30 if you prefer, or
Do Blackfathom Deeps (BFD) once for the quests.
Alternatively, Razorfen Kraul (RFK) is a decent option for Horde players, especially for melee classes looking for the Corpsemaker axe, which is better than the Whirlwind Axe quest reward.
At level 30, dungeon grinding really starts to pick up. The Graveyard in Scarlet Monastery (SM) is fast, packed with weak mobs that are easy to AoE down. Graveyard runs should take you to level 33.
Next, switch to SM Library, which has better loot and a key quest that unlocks the other SM wings. You’ll want to run it at least once for the quests and loot, and it should get you to level 36.
The real treasure begins here. SM Armory is a melee DPS's dream, with loot like:
Herod’s Helmet (with 1% crit),
Herod’s Shoulders (iconic and powerful),
And the legendary Ravager Axe, which is perfect for AoE grinding.
You’ll likely grind SM Armory until level 42 to ensure you collect all the best-in-slot gear.
At level 40, casters can switch to SM Cathedral, which offers the best experience per hour for spell cleave groups. The loot is decent, with a good mix of caster and melee gear. However, be careful—the pulls here are tricky and require a coordinated group.
Zul'Farrak is a major leveling spike. The quests are plentiful, and the experience is fantastic, especially if you know the trick for farming the Executioner event on the stairs.
Tip: If you have a spell cleave group, you can repeatedly farm the waves of mobs at the stairs for massive experience gains.
At level 50, it’s time to grind Maraudon. This dungeon is fantastic for both melee and caster classes:
Princess runs are a must for melee players, as they can drop the best-in-slot Hit Ring.
Casters can farm here for good loot as well, including an epic dagger that restores mana.
Don’t forget to complete the quest for the Scepter so you can do Princess runs later on.
At level 56, you can start running BRD for Jail and Arena runs. The loot here is excellent for both casters and melee. Key items to look out for include:
Ironfoe (the best-in-slot weapon for many classes),
Hand of Justice (an amazing trinket you'll use into Blackwing Lair),
And the Gladiator Chain for melee DPS.
Alternatively, Lower Blackrock Spire (LBRS) is another option if you’re farming for the UBRS key. The loot here is solid, especially for rogues and hunters.
Spell Cleaving
For the fastest dungeon leveling, consider running a spell cleave composition, typically consisting of:
3 Frost Mages,
1 Priest,
And a Warlock.
This composition can AoE down large packs of mobs, making it the fastest way to level if done correctly.
Melee Cleaving
Alternatively, you can use a melee cleave group, which is more traditional. This setup includes:
1 Warrior (as a tank and DPS),
1 Shaman (for Windfury if Horde),
And 3 DPS (ideally warriors, rogues, or hunters).
This composition is versatile and efficient, though not as fast as spell cleave in some dungeons.
Dungeon grinding is one of the fastest and most efficient ways to level in WoW Classic Fresh. With the right group composition and a solid understanding of each dungeon's quests and loot, you can avoid the monotony of questing and hit level 60 in no time.
