Molten Core is the original vanilla raid located in Blackrock Mountain. It is scaled down to support raids of 20 players in Season of Discovery. If you want to find out the best DPS for Molten Core in Season of Discovery, read our SOD Molten Core DPS tier list.
There are 11 bosses instead of the original 10. The new 11th secret boss is only available on the highest difficulty setting. Bosses have revamped loot with updated stats and qualities from their original versions. Difficulty can be scaled between 3 levels - Normal, Warm, and Hot. Higher difficulties increase fire damage taken and add new mechanics. Attunement is required by completing a quest that involves running Blackrock Depths. Increased drops and unique cosmetic weapons can drop from bosses on higher difficulties. That’s why you need the best Season of Discovery DPS classes and specs for Molten Core. Without further ado, let’s check SOD Molten Core DPS ranking for Phase 4.
S Tier
Survival Hunter: Top spot right now due to gear scaling. Multiplies agility tremendously making it hardest scaling spec. Will stay strong and be the best Season of Discovery DPS specs for Molten Core in Phase 4.
A Tier
Assassination Rogue: Excellent damage but will drop a bit. Still very strong and it is one of the best Season of Discovery Molten Core DPS.
Enhancement Shaman: Scales very well with gear unlike Ele. Gap will widen against other classes.
B Tier
Feral Druid: Balanced and utility focused. Good damage and buffs. Will stay consistently strong.
Marksmanship Hunter: Decent damage and will likely improve with gear.
Combat Rogue: Good not best rogue spec. Damage is solid and will climb.
C Tier
Fire Mage: Middle of pack now but will rise as fire resistance drops with gear. Set bonuses help.
Destruction Warlock: Low now but will rise tremendously as fire resistance drops and gear enables more damage stats.
Elemental Shaman: Lacks AoE that others have. Weaker scaling than Enh but utility keeps them mid tier.
D Tier
Fury Warrior: Gear dependent - scales well but need gear without fire resist sacrifices. Top players prove potential. Will rise.
Shadow Priest: Weak damage but insane utility and mana battery. Always wanted for that reason.
Retribution Paladin: Low damage but bring useful buffs and utility. Mid-bottom tier.
F Tier
Arcane Mage: Arcane Mage is at the bottom of this Season of Discovery Molten Core DPS tier list. Arcane Mage was very bad.
Arms Warrior: Arms Warrior is not supposed to do good DPS anyway, so that's also not a surprise.
Demonology Warlock: Demonology Warlock is very low on this SoD Phase 4 Molten Core DPS ranking. It is fire based and takes Shadow Link.
Bring sappers! Sappers do tremendous damage to Majordomo Executus which allows for an easy burn phase.
Fire resist gear is important for some fights like Shazzrah and Baron Geddon. Have tanks and some DPS equip fire resist gear for these encounters.
CC is useful on some fights. Sheep/trap Firemaw's heads, sap Majordomo's adds, fear/poly Garr's adds, etc. Proper CC makes the fights much smoother.
Have hunters kite Lava Packs in Golemagg to remove a major mechanic.
Kill Magmadar's Lava Packs quickly as they do raid-wide damage over time.
Dispel Magmadar's Static Charge debuff as it does raid damage and increases over time.
Have rogues/warriors/hunters build up lots of threat on Gehennas then feign death to drop agro and allow a tank swap.
Slow or stun Lucifron's Inferno cast to avoid a huge raid damage ability.
Kill Sulfuron Harbinger fast in Ragnaros to avoid a Mind Control ability.
Have ranged heavy on Ragnaros and melee spread out to avoid Magma Trap AoE damage.
Use Onyxia Scale Cloak or resistance gear for Shazzrah, Magmadar, Gehennas and Baron Geddon.
CC core hounds on Majordomo fight and tank one away from group.
