Diablo 4 Season 4 Leaks & Release Date | D4 Roadmap & Schedule 2024

1/3/2024 3:42:11 PM

2024 has just begun and we are taking the opportunity to share a summary of everything that awaits us in the coming months concerning the Diablo 4 game. What follows has been officially confirmed by Blizzard and we will present everything to you in this D4 roadmap 2024 and Season 4 leaks.

Diablo 4 Season 4 & Roadmap 2024 - Release Date, Expansions & 6 Changes in D4 2024

2024 will really be the birth year of Diablo 4, even if the game has been available since June 2023. It will still take another 6 to 9 months for Blizzard to achieve the result we were all expecting last year already. The disappointment was huge in 2023, even if the beta had already given us a heads up. Season 4 is expected to deliver major improvements to Diablo 4's itemization and systems while introducing new endgame content. Without further ado, let's check Diablo IV Season 4 leaks and the 2024 update calendar!

Diablo 4 Season 4 Leaks

Seasons will continue to run on a 3-month cycle, so D4 Season 4 release date is expected to begin in late March/mid-April 2023. Major itemization and loot changes are coming similar to Loot 2.0 in D3 to improve itemization systems. Additional endgame content will be added beyond what is currently available like Abattoir. Each season will have its theme to provide new incentives/goals. The theme for S4 is not revealed yet.

The Codex of Power system will be reworked so that high-rolled Aspects found can be extracted and upgraded to the base versions, freeing up stash space. Stash space is a major issue currently as players store high-rolled Aspects and gear taking up lots of tabs. The Codex changes aim to address this by allowing singular high rolls to apply account-wide vs refinding each season. Players are anticipating these changes will significantly improve loot gameplay and free up stash management issues. More details on Season 4, its theme and new content/systems will likely be revealed in late March before the estimated mid-April start date.

Diablo 4 Expansion Leaks

Blizzard confirmed annual expansions for D4, with the first being Vessel of Hatred in late 2024. It will take place in the jungle region south of Sanctuary called Nahu, hinted on the in-game map. The new map area will connect from the existing zones down south. A major reveal of Vessel of Hatred content is planned for early summer 2024, speculated to possibly be Gamescom in August. The expansion will likely raise the level cap and add a new class, speculated to be a Spirit Barbarian class rather than Paladin. However, the class could change. New zones, quests, gear, and other content relating to the Vessel of Hatred storyline will be added. Existing classes may receive new skills and adjustments with the expansion. Release timing is estimated around October/November 2024 based on the annual expansion schedule. This will follow the final seasonal content update expected sometime after Season 5 in the summer.

Diablo 4 Updates & Changes 2024

The Gauntlet

We start with the big upcoming novelty with season ranking through a new game mode called The Gauntlet. Diablo 4 will offer the much anticipated season 3 rankings available at the end of January 2024. Each week players will face a specific dungeon with the same structure and monsters for all participants. The path will not be linear, meaning you can create your own route to accumulate as many points as possible, which will then be used to create a hierarchy between players. See it as a huge castle with several doors or an immense plain that will offer several options to explore the area. It will then be up to us to find the most optimal way to achieve our goals. The monsters and chests present in the dungeon will grant us Proofs of Might, which will help increase our final score. Depending on that score, we will receive a grade among five available, knowing that the highest will only concern the top 1000 players of the week.

Helltide

We are moving on to the improvement of Helltide waves planned for the start of Season 3. Whether on the eternal or seasonal servers, the rework of Helltide waves is also coming soon. Simply put, if you have played the game during Season 2, know that Helltide waves will simply take a hourly rotation equivalent to Blood Harvest.

Instead of waiting 1 hour and 5 minutes between each Helltide wave, as is currently the case, we will no longer have to wait more than 5 minutes at the end of each one to start the next one. In addition, each Helltide wave will last 55 minutes, so we will potentially have access to this content 22 hours a day, 7 days a week. No more random schedules where we log in for an hour right when no Helltide wave is available, preventing us from farming components to summon Riel. It only remains to increase the number of Aberrant Ashes dropped by each monster and it will be perfect.

Endgame System

We are now moving on to one of the great mysteries of the upcoming season, namely the arrival of new endgame content announced by Blizzard without further details. It will unfortunately be necessary to wait for the huge upcoming preview to find out more. The Californian studio has been working on the issue for several weeks and we think it is a streamlined version of the Abattoir of Zir that should be available to all players regardless of their server of origin.

There is nothing official in this assumption, but we are opting for a return of the Greater Rifts from Diablo 3 in this last installment of the franchise. We hope to find a dynamic map functionality without any loading time, but with, on the other hand, a higher number of possible deaths than previously offered by the Abattoir. Instead of being ejected from this new content at the slightest mistake on our part, we want death to penalize us on the timer instead, to allow us to continue the experience in progress and try to reach the end of the dungeon.

Affixes

We are starting with a complete overhaul of the game's items, which will do our neurons a world of good. Currently, many calculations and mechanics included in Sanctuary seem to work in a strange way, to put it politely. Several tests carried out on dummies by various people prove that several affixes are added or multiplied strangely between each other, thus causing notable misunderstandings within the community.

Do we really need hundreds of different AFFIXES to make the game interesting? In addition, this turns the reading of each item picked up during our sessions into something completely indigestible. We even end up throwing our entire inventory away out of laziness to read everything after our 30th round trip to town. Therefore, a simplification is needed and numbers that really mean something should appear in the character sheet during a future update.

Power Codex

Another much-awaited but undated change is the management of all aspects of the game directly in the Power Codex. Currently, only aspects available in in-game dungeons integrate our Codex, but only in the lowest possible ARD version, which no longer interests anyone once level 100.

As a result, we pile up powers in our chests to have them available later, causing a catastrophic traffic jam in our inventory. It seems logical to us that the stash and bank serve above all to store powerful or unique items there, but not aspects that we are not even sure we will use quickly. The new Codex interface should allow us to select the previously picked up aspect but also and above all its power level, with some restrictions to avoid stocking thousands of them either.

Group

We are concluding this chronicle with the 8th and final major change announced by Blizzard for 2024 - enhancing the community aspect of the title. To be frank, apart from clans without soul and the ability to invite Battle.net friends into a four-player group maximum, Diablo 4 cannot really put much forward when it comes to its online game aspect.

To remedy this, as in the old days when the best jams were made, nothing like a group search mode to liven up this aspect of the game, whether copied from Diablo 3's or preferably from World of Warcraft's. We should see this addition during the course of 2024. Diablo 4 already has many group mechanics that work quite well, especially exchanges and personal loot that avoid many conflicts between group members.
