1. Diablo 4 Season 2 Theme: Season of Blood
Season 2 revolves around a new threat that dares to plunge Sanctuary into ruin - vampires with an insatiable thirst. You are the last hope to avert another disaster. In the trailer, a new key figure for the story has been revealed, someone who has been observing and combating the vampire plague for a long time. However, the fight against the vampires seems hopeless, and Erys, the vampire hunter, hopes that a new power will annihilate these evil creatures once and for all. Along with the trailer, new information about Season 2 has been released, as well as changes that players have been wishing for since Season 1.
2. Diablo 4 Season 2 New Bosses, Dungeons & Questline
The new questline in Season 2 of Diablo 4, called Season of Blood, will allow players to become a daywalker in the grand Blade tradition. Players will join Erys, a vampire hunter, on a mission to cleanse the new vampiric threat rising in Sanctuary. By embracing vampiric powers, players will gain a set of abilities while hunting other vampires. The questline is expected to be an exciting addition to the game and will be voiced by Gemma Chan. Five new and returning endgame bosses will provide additional endgame challenges and offer better targets for farming unique and uber-unique items. The new questline will also bring new dungeons and quests to the players to unlock new rewards!
3. Diablo 4 Season 2 New Items
In Season 2 of Diablo 4, there are new items introduced in the game:
Vampire Powers - In Diablo IV Season 2, there will be new additions including vampire powers, new unique items, legendary aspects, seasonal blessings, and a new questline with.
Unique items - New Season Of Blood will also let you pick specific Unique and Uber Unique items to farm bosses for, which is most welcome given how vital Uniques can be for builds. Here, watch the trailer. Targeting unique and ultra-rare items in Diablo 4 Season 2 is a positive change, but the drop rate for ultra-rares should be significantly increased. It's not meaningful to have an item that only drops once per season for one person out of millions. Considering the large player base of over 12 million, it's likely there are some ultra-rares that haven't been found yet. Ideally, ultra-rares should have higher drop rates overall and a notably higher or guaranteed drop rate when defeating one of the new end-game bosses solo. This approach would avoid situations where streamers use exploit builds to carry others for views and make these items obtainable only through individual efforts.
New Legendary Aspects - Season 2 will add new Legendary Skins
Seasonal Blessings - As with every Season, new Seasonal Blessings will also be available.
4. Diablo 4 Season 4 Class Changes
No doubt, there are a few class changes coming in Season 2 of Diablo IV. However, we have not heard any specific information about class changes yet. More details about class changes and other additions are expected to be revealed closer to the actual launch date in October.
5. Diablo 4 Season 2 Renown System Rework
In Diablo IV Season 2, the Renown system has undergone changes to address player frustrations and improve the gameplay experience. Instead of grinding out Renown through side quests, players will now have an easier time progressing. One of the significant changes is that Renown rewards have become account-wide, reducing the seasonal grind. Paragon Points, Skill Points, Potion Charges, and Obol capacity upgrades will carry over into a new Season once achieved with an Eternal or previous Seasonal Realm character. This means that players no longer need to earn Renown separately for each new season.
Good, as long as there are no undisclosed adjustments to compensate for the time saved by not having to farm renown every season. If they reduce XP, for instance, to offset the time we save by not having to do renown, then it would be a net neutral change. We hope they don't secretly weaken anything, although I'm skeptical about everything they do at this stage. We'll have to wait and see.
6. Diablo 4 Season 4 Gameplay Changes (Vulnerable, Overpower, Crit Damage, Elemental Resistances)
There are changes to the functionality of Vulnerable, Overpower, Crit Damage, and Elemental Resistances in Season 2. Fixing resistances is undoubtedly a positive change, provided they offer adequate defense. However, I have concerns about the other three changes. They fall into the multiplicative damage categories, and I'm worried that they will be converted into additive ones, which would be a nerf. We believe that a better solution would be to eliminate many of the existing conditional bonuses. Why do we need separate bonuses for damage with cold and damage with frost, or damage vs close and damage vs distant? Moreover, what even counts as close and distant? It seems that many of these affixes are included in the game to create the illusion of customizing your character's functionality, but in reality, they only serve to waste your time searching for well-rolled gear.
7. Diablo 4 Season 2 Battle Pass
A new Battle Pass will be available for Diablo IV Season 2. This one offers many new cosmetic rewards via a free route and a paid route.
8. Diablo 4 Season 2 More Changes & Improvements
Diablo 4 Season 2 addresses many issues from Season 1. What can you expect with Season 2? Blizzard has received a lot of feedback since Season 1 and to counter that, the developers have prepared many changes that could please you. In Season 2, you can expect the following:
- New and returning enemies for more challenge
- Improvements to make it easier to farm unique and legendary items
- More efficient gem inventory management
- Gems no longer share space with your items
- Changes to the functionality of status effects such as vulnerability, crowd control, critical hit damage, and elemental resistance.
That’s everything we know about Diablo IV Season 4 at this stage, more info will be showcased in detailed streams leading up to the start date. We will update the post later, stay tuned!
