D4 1.1.1 Tier List - Best Diablo 4 Class & Build for Season 1 After 1.1.1 Patch

8/8/2023 4:48:26 PM

It's time to check out our new D4 1.1.1 Tier List to see which is the best class and build to play in Season 1 after the huge update!

Diablo 4 1.1.1 Tier List - Best Class & Build After Patch 1.1.1

Diablo 4 Patch 1.1.1 is coming soon with major buffs for the Barbarian and Sorcerer classes. These two classes are probably the two most underpowered options in the game right now, and the buffs should make them more viable and fun. But the Rogue, Druid, and Necromancer classes are also getting some tweaks, although not as big. The meta change of class in Season 1 is changing now, what is the best class and build after the update? Our Diablo 4 1.1.1 Tier List gives you the answers by ranking all class from S Tier to C Tier.

  • 1. Druid: Werewolf Tornado (S Tier)

The Druid, the most versatile shapeshifter in Diablo 4, gets some improvements in Patch 1.1.1, making it easier to gather Spirits with basic skills. The Druid didn't require as much attention as the Barbarian or Sorcerer, but it still got some welcome buffs and changes. Druid uniques are well-designed because they enable new builds, you can do something different with them. You don't need Eaglehorn to play Pen Shot with Rogue. You don't need Deathless Visage to play Bone Spear, and so on. And the best part is, those builds actually perform better without the uniques because you can get affixes on items that suit your needs. The great thing about Druid is that it has many viable and fun endgame builds besides Stormwolf so even if you don't have TR, you can still tackle high-tier content.

Overall, Druid is have been one of the most balanced classes in the game, by getting +15 skill points in a core skill and double dipping with unique aspects, we do think this class could dominate the next Season 1 progress with its various build variants.

Most Buffed Build in 1.1.1 Patch: Companion Druid

Best Build After 1.1.1 Patch: Werewolf Tornado Druid

  • 2. Rogue: Twisting Blades (A Tier)

The Rogue class is currently regarded as one of the most powerful choices in Diablo 4, featuring several viable builds that excel from early to endgame. Patch 1.1.1's upcoming class changes will have minimal impact on this strength, primarily focusing on buffing certain skills and passives in the update. The main change that comes to Rogue is the buff to Windforce unique for the ranged Rogue, replacing "All Stats" with Vulnerable Damage. Siphoning Strike is still terrible after the change, changing from 75% to 85% chance does nothing - At 85% it now has a whopping 14% with TB and 4% with Flurry, for a 3% heal btw, it’s still utter useless trash.  Now you are going to have to use lucky hit and stack lucky hit chance which will mean sacrificing offensive/defensive stats, no matter what you choose the Rogue will be significantly weaker.

Most Buffed Build in 1.1.1 Patch: Penetrating Shot Build

Best Build After 1.1.1 Patch: Twisting Blades Rogue

  • 3. Barbarian: HotA (B Tier)

Significant improvements are being made to the Barbarian class in Diablo 4. Basic skills of the class are receiving buffs, particularly with an increased Fury generation to address previous concerns about the early game experience. Moreover, the Barbarian's Passives, Legendaries, and Uniques are all being updated, enhancing the class's viability in the later stages of the game. These changes aim to address common complaints and make the Barbarian class a more enjoyable and competitive choice throughout Diablo 4. Now the Dual Wield fantasy of Frenzy Double Swing coming a bit closer to being a thing that competes with other builds not named Hota or WW. Walking Arsenal buff is a head-scratcher. Quality of life buff and is nice, but Walking Arsenal’s main issue is that its multipliers aren’t high enough to justify dropping Unbridled Fury. The Ancestral Force buff is mediocre and barely does anything to make Hammer of the Ancients more enticing to use. So we think HotA and Whirlwind will still be the best options for Barbarian, while Double Swing will be the biggest winner among other Barb builds in the 1.1.1 patch. Overall, Barbarian could be more viable at the endgame than Necromancer.

Most Buffed Build in 1.1.1 Patch: Double Swing Barbarian

Best Build After 1.1.1 Patch: HotA Barbarian

  • 4. Sorcerer: Ice Shards (B Tier)

In Diablo 4's patch 1.1.1, there will be a focus on improving underused sorcerer skills. Currently, cold damage builds like Ice Shards and Blizzard are the most popular choices for sorcerers. However, the upcoming update aims to enhance lightning and fire builds, making them more viable options for players. There are the top 3 most buffed sorcerer skills and will affect the builds' meta utilizing them. Chain Lightning sorcerer has the most potential to be the most powerful Sorc build after the 1.1.1 patch. These Buffs to Chain Lightning are not increasing damage as much as the other two builds, but they will make it possible to have unlimited Mana without the need for a basic attack. Ball lightning sorcerer only has one specific change but it's a pretty big buff in damage. Patch 1.1.1 updates the Gravitational  Circle aspect to increase damage by up to 25% (increasing Ball Lightning damage by 39% with the same Mana generation). Fireball Sorcerer has some good updates in patch 1.1.1 with the buffs to Gloves of the Illuminator (Damage penalty reduced to 45-35%) and Enhanced Fireball (Casting Fireball increases its radius by 50%). What's more, the buffed Aspect of Three Curses offers the One-Shot potential to the Fireball Sorcerer, but the Mana generation could be a problem for this build. A lot of damage reduction for Sorcerers will be added to their Paragon Nodes.

Sorcerer is becoming more balanced and effective in both attack and defense. Fire and Lightning skills have received many boosts, which will increase the variety of endgame builds. But we still don't think this class will be over the Rogue and Druid, and in some case, it will still be the weakest class in the game by far.

Most Buffed Build in 1.1.1 Patch: Chain Lightning Build

Best Build After 1.1.1 Patch: Ice Shards Sorcerer

  • 5. Necromancer: Bone Spear (C Tier)

The Necromancer, the star of the next Patch 1.1.1 for Diablo 4, gets some minor tweaks in the update. Unlike other classes like Barbarians and Sorcerers, who are getting some significant buffs in the upcoming patch, the Necromancer changes are more subtle, with most of the changes affecting Legendary Aspects. With this Aspect buff, Sever Necromancer gets damage upgraded. Another very significant yet somewhat overlooked Necromancer change in our opinion is the fact that Minions being your skeletons are not going to die nearly as easily, at least according to the patch notes to certain specific Elite mechanics.  Necro minions work well, sever/summoning is a strong build through the entire game and when you get Ring of Mendeln it becomes insane.

All in all, there are not too many changes to the meta situation of Necromancer with the 1.1.1 patch. Even though Necro has a strong build like Bone Spear, with the enhancement of Sorc and Barb, this class may become the least popular class.

Most Buffed Build in 1.1.1 Patch: Sever Necro

Best Build After 1.1.1 Patch: Bone Spear Necro

This is our new D4 Season 1 Tier List based on Diablo 4 1.1.1 Patch Notes and some feedback from the community, which will probably change as the game progresses. Keep in mind that no class is completely out of the question in Diablo 4, and we always recommend choosing one based on your playstyle.
