New World 200 Crafting Leveling Guide - How To Level Your Crafting at 200

What crafts can you make on your way to 200 that can sell on the trading post for at least part of their cost? There are your tips!

General Tip

Always craft with the cheapest materials, and use buy orders. Ebonwood/quillbark instead of wyrdwood planks, azurite instead of starmetal, cinnabar for orichalcum, wildwood for ironwood planks, ragehide for coarse leather, ect.

How To Make Money

-Furnishing: Tier 1-4 instruments and trophies. On my server tier 4 instruments can sometimes sell for as much as tier 5s, and they sell much more consistently. Downside is you then can't use them for your own leveling. -- Money saver trick for cheap furnishing xp is making gunpowder (engineering) and then making powder horns (75 furnishing, 4k xp). The trick is that the powder horn only uses gunpowder, beeswax, and an animal horn, but when you salvage it, you're guaranteed the animal horn back. At 189, you can buy the recipe for Round Sea Foam Rug (most cost-effective xp) and make about 30 of those to max out the skill, but they probably won't sell.

-Engineering: Tools and arrows. Starmetal tools sell for a significant profit, about 150 gold each, and orichalchum arrows sell for a slim profit margin, .35 each. The real surprise for me was wyrdwood fishing poles - cheaper to make than starmetal tools (~2 gold for quillbark/ebonwood vs 3+ gold for azurite) AND sells far more reliably. Same as furnishing, I find that orichalcum tools sell for about the same as starmetal tools, despite costing significantly more to make.

-Cooking: This skill levels so fast and for so cheap, which is good because the basic foods tier 1-4 are worthless. The tier 5 Hearty Meal does sell for 0.23, which is about half of what it costs to make, but at least it's some of your money back. The stat foods do sell for a good amount more than they cost, but I haven't tried it personally so I can't say how frequently they are bought.

Skills

-Armoring, weaponsmithing, jewelry: Before crafting GS600, I think these skills are complete New World gold sinks. No one is going to buy your steel spear and fur boots. My only tip is to go for the most cost efficient craft... if anyone has any suggestions, please help me. With armoring you can make satchels, which do sell, but on my server I find that the holding runes cost almost as much as the bags themselves. I'll have to try with buy orders though.

-Arcana: We've managed to level this skill to 150 by making all the different potions, wards, and a lot of angry earth coatings (animal eye, fire regent, death regents, ~0.4 gold to make.) Problem is, no one buys these coatings, and tier 5 are much more expensive to make. I've tried making and selling infused potions, no one buys those either. Motes give so little xp and we don’t think the higher tiers sell for more than the basic ones.

Final Tips

Breaking even or making a profit from crafting pre-200 is doable, but it's slow. Very slow. It's not a question of price. You can make 10,000 wyrdwood fishing poles, but in one day there's not going to be 10,000 buyers. So you list 5 to 10 a day, according to the lowest listing's price, and you wait. But it's been a fun challenge to try and level on a budget.
