Path of Exile 3.20 expansion has officially been pushed back, but we are expecting to see more positive content that will refresh our POE gameplay at the end of 2022! But when the 3.20 league update launches, what is the content including league events and fixes we will see? In this guide, let's talk about the release date and path notes of POE 3.2 Patch.
Path of Exile 3.20 expansion is likely to release on December 2nd or December 9th, 2022, for the below reasons:
- GGG has announced the 3.2 expansion launch date is scheduled for late November to early December.
- GGG always releases a new League on Friday
- If they are going to launch it on time, the normal date would probably be around November 25th, but instead of November 25th, they're probably going to be looking at December 9th or December 16th one of those two dates is most likely going to be December 9th, because they mentioned that they want around two weeks before Christmas.
- So only 2 possible dates that allow GGG to release in early December and still have roughly two weeks before Christmas
- December 9th seems like the most likely date, but a December 2nd release would be better for players intending to play WoW and 3.2 Path or Exile.
- December 2nd would give GGG to do more bug fixes and implement changes to league mechanics, Archnemesis, and Loot.
- Releasing on December 2nd might lead to a lot of players trying out POE for 10 days and then ditching the game once Season 1 Dragonflight releases.
The reason GGG does this is that their original release date for Holiday leagues used to be in early December but then they had a lot of delays. Then they had to delay for cyberpunk and ended up delaying for some other stuff, so we're pretty much backed up an entire league in terms of time, so instead of 12 leagues in three years, we're at 11 leagues in three years now.

In the post announcing the delay of the new league, GGG not only leak 3.2 would be released in early December because they wanted to go back to their original release schedule, but also gave us updates on multiple Balance Manifestos, Ruthless Mode, End-of-League Events, and new supporter packs will rolling out in the upcoming expansion. Here are the brief patch notes of the POE 3.20 Update!
New End-Of-League Events
- Series of short events starting on November 4th
- Around 2-4 events with a variety of twists and prizes for top racers and regular players, events will likely run for a week or less
- Last year's events included Delirium Everywhere, Atlas Invasion, Endless Heist, Endless Delve, and Gauntlet are returning with new tweaks and updates
Fixes - Balance Manifestos
- Series of balance manifestos that cover as much of the balance changes as possible in the lead-up to the 3.20 expansion
- Going to provide better communication and transparency
- Breaking down into individual topics to better facilitate feedback and discussion
- This does not mean that there will be a lot of changes/nerfs
Refreshed Hard Mode - Ruthless
- Alongside the 3.2 expansion, Hard Mode is getting its official name - Ruthless and going live with new features
- Ruthless offers players different gameplay experiences for specific types of players, and also can be played in Softcore
- Ruthless in 3.2 patch will allow players opt-in to extreme item scarcity and various other changes
- Full information about what Ruthless involves will be announced in early November
- The Ruthless Alpha test will also be rolled out in the current version of 3.19 in November, one of the waves of players will be invited to take the test
New Core Support Packs
- The new set of core supporter packs with new physical goods in the series' top tiers will be released in Mid-December
- The current core support pack will be moved from the store forever at the same time
More Notes about the POE 3.20 Patch
- Multiple Balance Manifesto might usher in a new meta
- New Short-term Events could cause burnout before the 3.20 update, playing Kalandra League is glorified Standard League
- Ruthless Mode is going to fragment the player base, and there are too many modes.
- We have completely skipped a league in the past 3 years, so maybe we are moving to the cycle of a league every 4 months in the future.
