Madden 23 Team Captain Upgrade
When you first get into Madden 23, you will be able to pick one of these team captains in Ultimate Team. All MUT team captains start with an 85 overall, and you can upgrade them to 88 OVR by completing some solo challenges. You are going to have the picked card all year long, usually, new upgrade tokens will be continuously dropped in the game so that you can level up them throughout the year and finally get them to reach 99 OVR. But at the time of writing, we don’t know if there is an exchange set that allows you to exchange your team captain.
Madden 23 Best Team Captain - Who is the Best Team Captain in MUT 23
Who is the best team captain in Madden 23 Ultimate Team? Based on current data and information given by EA, Zirksee’s ranking is Larry Csonka at number one, Sam Adams at number two, Keyshawn Johnson at number three, and Eric Allen last.
Larry Csonka
Larry Csonka is at a fullback position that some theme teams don’t have, and Csonka is one of the best team captains you can pick in Madden 23. He is a great run-blocking fullback to have instantly to start the game, with 83 run block, 86 lead block, 87 impact block, 82 speed, and 84 strength. You could sub in Larry Csonka based on whatever formations you're in, if you're gonna run the ball and you're coming out in the single back, you can submit it tight end and have him be a blocker to start the year, if you like to run like fullback dives or just run with your fullback, he does have good catching as well, Csonka is definitely going to be a very popular pick and throughout the year as they continue to upgrade the team captains, his speed and strength are going to get better, his run blocking is already really good, by the end of the year this card could easily have 90 plus run block. Not to mention he also has 237 pounds and in recent years weight really matters especially on next-gen Madden.
Sam Adams
Then we have the defensive tackle Sam Adams, not a lot of theme teams tend to have defensive tackles, his weight has not been revealed in Madden 23 and he is probably going to be about 340 pounds, this is a really good weight for a defensive tackle. He also has a good speed as a DT, 88 strength, 87 block shedding, and 88 power move. If you do use defensive tackles, Sam Adams is a good option to go, and DT is a better option compared to a depth position like a wide receiver. Both Larry Csonka and Sam Adams are good picks, you can choose the one that you will get the most use out of.
Keyshawn Johnson
Keyshawn Johnson is 6’4”, he has a really good height, which is probably going to be important this year, especially for aggressive catch situations. It’s never necessarily a bad option to take a wide receiver as your team captain, but looking at the stats of 88 OVR Keyshawn Johnson, he has 85 overall, there are many receivers that have 86 or 87 speed, this card is not necessarily going to be a starter you can have on your team, there are a lot of the rookie premieres with 86 speed, and you will find speed is kind of critical in Madden. Compared to other options, this is probably not the best pick.
Eric Allen
The final team captain player is Eric Allen, he has 86 speed, 87 acceleration, 87 man coverage, 85 zone and 86 press. It looks like a pretty solid card, 86 speed is good, and the man, zone, and press are really balanced, but a big issue with this card is the height, he is 5’10”, so considering this, Keyshawn Johnson may be a little bit better.
