Diablo 4 Season 9 introduces a brand-new system of Unique Horadric Jewels. What do all of these do, and which ones are going to be the best? In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know, from what Horadric Jewels are, how to use them, the best ones to prioritize, and where to find them.
So, for starters, let's go over kind of the rules of how these new unique jewels work. These are essentially the return of the Occult gem system from Season 7 (Season of Witchcraft), which is jewelry gem slot fillers that provide a good chunk of armor and resistances, but then also have an actual effect that changes how our seasonal power works. Each jewel provides a static bonus of 120 Armor and All Resistances, and you’ll need to be at least level 10 to use them. This means they’re also helpful when leveling alts.
You socket these jewels into your jewelry slots: rings and amulets. Each jewel comes with a unique effect that can significantly alter your gameplay. However, you:
You can get up to three of these gems, and you cannot run multiple copies of the same one.
You have to essentially craft them, presumably using materials from Jewel Guardians.
Can combine effects from different Arcana schools (e.g., Power, Control, Denial) to trigger additional bonuses.
Each jewel synergizes with specific builds or mechanics. Some are universally good, while others are conditional based on your build (DOT, crit, summoner, etc.).

These generally give bonuses based on your layout of powers and combinations, based on the school of magic that it comes from. So, let's go over the effects of these, and then we'll also go over basically what the S-tier ones are that more than likely people will want to go ahead and actually craft. Here's our preview of the top-performing Horadric Jewels in Season 9 based on early impressions:
1. Idol from Below (S Tier)
You gain 6%[x] primary stat, 8%[x] maximum life, and you are always Unhindered. However, you will be hunted in Sanctuary's darkest places by Jewel Guardians who were entombed to protect this relic. This Horadric jewel is great for every build. Extra spawns = more DPS via splash/AoE. Works especially well in competitive pit runs.
2. Tyrant Bane (S Tier for DOT Builds)
After you deal damage over time to an enemy, they take 033%[x] more damage over time from you forever. This horadric spell gives infinite scaling on DOT builds like Spiritborn, but needs balancing-potentially overpowered. Tyrant Bane could be a really fun option for making damage overtime builds become better against bosses full stop, as this will just permanently increase your damage overtime buildup on an enemy, the more damage overtime you put on them.
3. Seal of Power (S Tier)
While you have two or more Arcana from the School of Power equipped, gain 25%[+] Movement
Speed and 15%[+] Critical Strike Chance. Movement speed = content-clearing efficiency. Crit chance benefits most builds.
4. Scornful Light (A Tier)
You deal 20%[x] and take 10%[x] more Elemental damage. This one can do a massive damage boost, but has a manageable drawback with resist stacking.
5. Seal of Denial (A Tier - Spiritborn Synergy)
While you have two or more Arcana from the School of Denial equipped, gain 30%[x] more Barrier,
Forify and Thorns. This one is great for Spiritborn poison/thorns builds that rely on barrier for bonuses.
6. Reverie Horn (A Tier - Summoner Builds)
After you injure or kill an enemy, your Summons are empowered, growing larger and dealing 30%[x] more damage for 4 seconds. This horadric spell could be a strong synergy with Necromancer's new skeletal mage builds or possibly Hydra.
7. Liminal Echo (S Tier for Hardcore Only)
If you would take fatal damage, instead prevent that damage invoke Propulsion, and become Invulnerable for 3 seconds. This can only occur once every 75 seconds. This one could be a Hardcore lifesaver, but would not be favored in softcore modes.
8. Seal of Control
While you have two or more Arcana from the School of Control equipped, gain 45%[+ Control Duration and 30%[+] Critical Strike Chance. This jewel boosts control duration and lucky hit chance. May work with crowd control builds like Ice Shards.
9. Horadric Crest
For each Arcana from a unique School you have equipped, gain 5%[+] Damage Reduction and 1%[+] Maximum Resistance to AII Elements. This jewel offers defensive multipliers, but could be less popular.
10. Myriad Stone
After you cast your Catalytic Skill, if it is an Ultimate, gain 30%[+] Attack Speed for 10 seconds.
11. Spark of Creation
After you cast your Catalytic Skill, gain 10 Primary Resource.
12. Brilliant Sigil
Your Infusions are 150%[x] more potent.
13. Elemental Brand
Your Catalytic Skill deals 33% damage of your Infusion's element over 3 seconds. Lucky Hit: Dealing damage of your Infusion's element has up to a 33% chance to trigger its secondary effect.
14. The Starflux
Your Catalysts deal 100%[x] more damage. However, you lose control over Horadric Spellcraft, causing your Catalysts to inherit Infusions randomly.
15. Luminate Eye
Your Catalytic Skill gains 25%[+] Cooldown Reduction.
You can craft Unique Horadric Jewels using materials obtained from Jewel Guardians, which are new elite enemies introduced in Season 9. These enemies:
