We're going to start off the year with a bang by bringing you probably the most hated formation - the new 5221 formation in the whole community. The reason why people hate it is because it's so hard to beat, this formation can get you off to a really good start in EAFC 24. It is one of a few new formations that EA have brought into the game.

In terms of the shape, it looks like a little bit of a 4321, the only thing is missing is that middle CM, if you do like the 4321 and you want something just a little bit more defensively sound but still give you that attacking threat, this is the one for you. If you have a LWB and RWB with high pace, then it’s a shame not to use the 5221 formation to help them aid in your attack. There are 5 defenders including 3 central defenders, one of them is a sweeper and 2 wide full-backs acting as wing-backs, who will be helping the midfielders and strikers on attacks, especially on counter-attacks. The wing-backs will be required to get up each flank in order to support attacks and also fulfill their defensive responsibilities. Much of the play will go through the middle and the CAM will have to pull the strings and be a creative spark. This is a very solid formation defensively, as long as the LWB and RWB fill in when they can.

Your width is going to be 60 because you want to open up the pitch a little bit more to invite more space to encourage your opponent to try and press the ball, because a lot of people are trying to press the ball because they've moved over to advanced defending. And the players in the box is 5, nice and balanced, corners and free kicks as per usual is on 2.
