Is 4-3-3 (4) a good formation in FIFA 23? 433 (4) Attack is a variation of 433 formation, this is a fun formation for players who like to be really attacking as it has lots of advantages on the offensive side, the six up front make attacking really easy even for people who struggle with attacking if you dominate possession well, but the lack of a defensive midfielder will make it difficult when you lose possession on counter-attacks. Then 433(4) is a great formation in FIFA 23 for people who like to attack with speed, and on counter-attacks, the wingers provide the width and are critical to counter-attacking, but the thrust of the three midfielders means the attackers may drift, and be available for those counter-attacks, through balls are generally quite weak in this game, so you do need to be a really confident pass over the ball in order to move the ball up the field fast. Defence

- Defensive Style: Balanced. This is already an attacking formation due to the starting positions, so anything other than balance is not an option unless you were chasing the game, then press after possession loss would be an option. 

- Width: 45. For the defensive width, you can choose 45, which is a bit of a constant in a lot of formations due to there being a lot less threat with the ball out wide, in order to have a compact middle and offer up any space out wide. 

- Depth: 60. The 433 (4) formation is meant to be attacked in, considering this, there is no good sitting deep on 30 depth, you can be a little bit exposed sometimes, but if you are comfortable with your defending abilities, it’s worth the risk to have a 60 depth, if you struggle a little bit more defensively, you can drop the depth down to 50 or 55.  

Offence

- Build Up Play: Slow Build Up. Go for the Slow Build Up to dominate possession and take our time building attacks, also as possession is really favorable at the moment, it is the perfect way to play now, giving the ball away in midfield will often lead to counters, especially with the lack of any CDMs to clean up behind us so you really do need to take care of the ball in midfield. 

- Chance Creation: Possession. The reason to choose possession is that direct passing is really weak, because of how poor through balls are, meaning your players are making really good runs but the ball never gets to them while selecting possession allows us to cut through our opponents in a different way and this was extremely effective.

- Width: 60. For the offensive width, 60 is good because in this formation you do need to give yourself a little width to be able to use the wide wingers and you do need that width to be able to pull your opponent's players out of position and then use that space to your advantage, it is important not to go too wide on the width, as this will open up your midfield too much, and you need to keep the center of the pitch tight and compact.

- Players In Box: 5. In order to make our instructions dictate where players go and especially on midfielders as they are critical to the success of this formation.

- Corners: 1. You can leave corners and free kicks on one. 

- Free Kicks: 1.

Best Player Instructions for FIFA 23 433(4) Formation

- GK: have our goalkeepers on Comes for Crosses, this gives us a great advantage when people look to whip crosses in from the box or from corners. Then have our GK on Sweeper Keeper, but if you are somebody who manually moves your keeper, then a lot of these instructions aren't super relevant. When it comes to key attributes, you want goalkeepers with good reactions and reflexes, and higher than six foot two plus.

- LB & RB: have your fullbacks on Stay Back While Attacking, some of the key attributes you want to look out for when using your full backs is high defending stats and good physical stats so you can shove players and wingers off the ball with that physicality and you also want to have good reliable short passing, because most of the passes you'll be playing will be short passes into midfield.

- CB: have your center backs on Stay Back While Attacking, you really want to have a good pace, which is not essential, this depends on your opponent's strikers, you also want to have high reactions and composure, which is super important for center backs in FIFA 23, and if you can have high interceptions and high defensive awareness, that is great for defenders in the game. 

- CM: midfielders are important roles in the 433 (4) formation, they have to do both attacks and defend, so having two players are box-box mids to be able to get forward and create and support in the intact but also to muck in and do some defending. So leave them on Balanced. Key stats are box-to-box mids, high stamina, high interceptions, and short passing/vision.

- CAM: having him on Stay To Position, allows him to be in position for any cutbacks that the wingers may give, some of the stats that you need to look out for are high dribbling, short passing, stamina and four-star weak foot. 

- LW & RW: go with Free Roam in the final third to allow them to be unpredictable when the space is open and sometimes drop in and come short, or spin behind, you don't need to have them constantly running in behind and get into the box. You want a high pace which is 87+, four-star weak foot and four-star skills, high dribbling, and good shooting. 

- GK: have him on Stay Central and Get In Behind, because you want to have that threat in behind that the defenders do need something in behind to worry about rather than everything in front of them all the time, and when he goes in behind, it leaves space for the center attacking midfielders and wingers to create and score goals. In terms of attributes, high shooting is very relevant, you also want a four-star weak foot, high reactions, and a good pace.
