A great change in Path of Exile 2 The Third Edict update is that players can have multiple copies of Spectres (Tamed Beasts) with increased damage and more balanced costs. Today, we are going to discuss how to get and use Fleshpierce in PoE 2 0.3.
Fleshpierce is a unique enemy creature in Path of Exile 2, classified as a Beast-type monster. Notably added and popularised in the 0.3.0 update of PoE 2, it is a top choice for Spectres in Rise of the Abyssal league. Furthermore, it can be captured and summoned as a Spectre using the Bind Spectre skill gem. Spectres are powerful minions raised from slain enemies, inheriting their skills and abilities, making them valuable allies in combat. Summoning Fleshpierce as a Spectre costs 84 Spirit.
Note:
The recent patch removed the ability to spawn or tame beasts with certain innate modifiers, including Fleshpierce.
What to Do with Fleshpierce after Nerfs in PoE 2 0.3.0b?
1. Assess your current spectres and gear
Check if your tamed beasts lost their modifiers or if they are still usable. If your Fleshpierce spectres are significantly weakened or slower, consider whether continuing with them is still viable.
2. Experiment with alternative minions
Since the patch removed some beast modifiers, try other spectres or minions that are still strong and available. For example, consider other minion types that benefit from your gear but aren’t affected by the nerf. Or, use the Disenchant option on Spectre gems to switch minions without buying new gems or heavy gear changes.
3. Optimize your passive tree and gear
Prioritize gear that boosts minion damage, health, and resistances rather than specialized modifiers. In terms of passive tree and nodes, focus on generic minion damage, minion speed, and survivability, rather than relying on specific beast modifiers.
4. Consider hybrid or alternative builds
If Fleshpierce is no longer viable, try hybrid builds that combine minions with direct damage skills or other mechanics. Try popular skills in POE 2 0.3 like Hollow Palm, Ice Strike, or Lightning Arrow.
5. Stay updated on new patch notes
Lack of communication from GGG on changes to Fleshpierce and other mechanics has caused confusion and disappointment. Maybe we can expect further adjustments to this beast or other improvements in the following patch notes.
PoE 2 Fleshpierce Modifiers & Bonuses
One of the most significant benefits of Fleshpierce is a hidden Haste Aura, which provides an unusually strong buff to movement speed, attack speed, and cast speed (+25% each). This aura makes Fleshpierce one of the best Spectres in PoE 2 0.3 to boost your minions’ and players’ fighting abilities. It also deals physical melee damage with strong life leech (125% of physical attack damage leeched as life). Its increased movement speed and attack/cast speed make it fast and deadly.
Another major advantage is that Fleshpierce’s base enemy type is inherently strong and agile. It originates from the Act 2 Dreadnought area and behaves as a fast melee DPS unit that can leap and close distances quickly, making it effective for both clearing mobs and boss fights. Fleshpierce is also easy to farm. It is a guaranteed rare beast spawn located just north of the town in The Khari Crossing, tied to a quest event.
Where and How to Get Fleshpierce in PoE 2 0.3?
Fleshpierce can be encountered early in the game’s Interlude Act, located in the Khari Crossing area. The first guaranteed spawn is a few screens north of the town in The Khari Crossing. It appears alongside another unique, rare beast, Bloodgulp.
Reach The Khari Crossing in the Interlude Act.
Find the Rare Beast Spawn: Go a few screens north from the town in The Khari Crossing, where two rare beasts spawn, Fleshpierce and Bloodgulp.
Check Their Auras: Do not aggro the beasts immediately. Instead, stand near them to check their hidden mods (such as the Haste Aura on Fleshpierce).
Respawn at Checkpoint: If the beasts don’t have the desired aura, hit Escape and respawn at the checkpoint to reset the spawn without killing them. Repeat this until you find Fleshpierce with the hidden Haste Aura.
How to Bind and Use Fleshpierce Spectre in PoE 2 0.3?
1. Obtain the Bind Spectre Skill Gem
Bind Spectre drops from monsters in Act 2 or later, typically in areas with an area level of 27 or higher. And the gem requires at least level 7 to use, so be sure your character or gem is levelled accordingly. You can also get Bind Spectre gems by farming monsters, buying from vendors, or trading with other players.
2. Prepare to Bind Fleshpierce
Once you have obtained the Fleshpierce from The Khari Crossing, approach the beasts carefully without attacking them immediately so you can check their auras or modifiers. Ensure you have enough Spirit resource to summon Fleshpierce (84 Spirit). Remember to equip the Bind Spectre skill gem on your skill bar.
3. Bind the Spectre
When ready, kill Fleshpierce to create its corpse. Target the corpse with the Bind Spectre skill gem. This will capture the spirit of Fleshpierce, transforming it into a Spectre minion under your control. Once bound, Fleshpierce will be added to your list of summonable Spectres.
4. Summon and Use Your Fleshpierce Spectre
Open the skill menu or minion management panel. Toggle your minion count for Fleshpierce to raise one or multiple copies (depending on your gear and spirit capacity). Fleshpierce will automatically join the fight, using its melee physical attacks and providing its hidden Haste Aura buff to itself and nearby allies. Your Fleshpierce Spectres will revive automatically after being slain, so you don’t need to manually resummon them constantly.
Best Builds to Use Fleshpierce Spectre in PoE 2 0.3
Any character who can use the Bind Spectre skill gem to raise spectres can summon Fleshpierce. It is an excellent fit for builds that heavily rely on minions or summon-based playstyles, especially those focused on maximising minion speed and damage output.
Changes (Nerfs) of Fleshpierce in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.0b
In the Patch 0.3.0b for Path of Exile 2, Fleshpierce has been nerfed. GGG announced that all fixed hidden modifiers on campaign rare beasts, including the Fleshpierce, will be removed when these beasts are used as companions or spectres. This means that Fleshpierce will lose its unique hidden Haste Aura, which previously granted substantial bonuses to movement, attack, and cast speed. This change will impact both existing and future spawns of Fleshpierce and similar beasts as part of GGG’s ongoing effort to balance gameplay and eliminate unintended advantages from fixed monster modifiers. While the method and location for capturing Fleshpierce remain valuable for farming, we should no longer expect its powerful aura buffs. Instead, other companions or spectres, such as Vaal Guard, may become more attractive.
Alongside these balance changes, the 0.3.0b patch also addresses several bugs and issues related to spectres and tamed beasts. GGG acknowledged problems with Spectre and Beast skills and behaviour introduced in the previous patch and is actively investigating and working to fix these. For example, a bug allowing Spectres and Tamed Beasts to benefit from out-of-combat life regeneration while in combat has been corrected. Additionally, the patch introduces quality of life improvements, including the ability to bind Abyssal Monsters as Spectres.
The community’s reaction to the removal of Fleshpierce’s hidden modifiers has been mixed. For about a week following the 0.3.0 patch, Fleshpierce’s hidden haste aura made it one of the top-tier Spectres, widely praised for its efficiency in combat and farming. Discussions on forums and Reddit highlighted how impactful the aura was, making the nerf a disappointment to many players who enjoyed using it. The good news is probably that you can bind Abyssal monsters as spectres now.
